The Ghost In The Machine Research Task surprised Pokemon Go players on 13th February, 2024 before quickly vanishing from the game. The task went live, with players given almost 12 days to complete the task with a rather cryptic description. This left many players wondering what the mission actually is. Let us look at what you need to do to complete the Ghost In The Machine Pokemon Go Research Task.
Ghost In The Machine: Pokemon Go
The task was first teased on the official Pokemon Go blog post for the Pokemon Go Tour: Sinnoh. The task description reads, “Catch me if you can,” with 30 Rotom Candy as a reward. The blog post talked about Rotom causing mischief at Pokemon Go Tour: Sinnoh – Los Angeles. Players would need to “Work together with fellow Trainers to piece together a secret code that unlocks an encounter with Rotom”. The post also notes, “Once Trainers at Rose Bowl Stadium decipher the code, Trainers worldwide can redeem it.” Redditors have figured out that the start of the code is ‘0HY0’, which sounds like ‘Ohayo’, a colloquial term meaning ‘good morning’ in Japanese.
Trainers in LA will need to figure out the rest of the code to redeem it. As a reward for completing the task, you’ll get 479 XP, and 479 Stardust and an encounter with Rotom. Rotom’s Pokedex entry number is #479 which tracks with the rewards offered. You will be able to redeem the rewards once the event goes live on 17th February, 2024.
