The Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence is the most recent iteration of the game mode for the version 2.0 update. It challenges players to clear as many waves as possible in a set amount of rounds with added buffs to help them clear challenges faster. The Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence game mode allows players to use one of the three powerful buff effects Blarney, Flattery, and Spiel. These buffs apply various effects if players use characters who specialize in follow-up attacks.

Blarney, Flattery, and Spiel? Which Buff is the best to use in Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence?

Blarney

Compared to all the Buff Effects available in Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence, the Blarney is suggested in most lineups. However, it requires players to run a follow-up attack team to maximize its effects.

When the Blarney Buff Effect is equipped, follow-up attacks will deal 50% more damage. This effect is also triggered one more time when the Whimsicality Effect activates. If you have enough characters with follow-up attacks like Himeko, Topaz, Herta, or Clara, the Whimsicality effects can trigger twice in a row, clearing up to two waves of regular enemies.

Flattery

If you lack characters who can deal follow-up attacks, the Flattery Buff Effect can be a good alternative to use.

When equipped, Ultimate abilities that damage enemies are considered a follow-up attack. This allows you to make use of the Whimsicality effect even if you don’t have any characters that focus on follow-up attacks.

Consider having characters, like Huohuo or Tingyun, that can recharge energy for other characters to help your other units cast Ultimate Damage on enemies as much as possible.

Spiel

The Spiel Buff Effect is arguably the most situational one out of all the options in the Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence game mode.

When equipped, all allies’ actions are advanced forward by 14% when enemies are hit with a follow-up attack. While it may sound good, it can only be activated once per attack. This means, multi-hit follow-up attacks like Herta, and Himeko can only activate the effect one time per attack.

The Spiel Buff Effect requires a specific team setup to fully maximize its potential compared to Blarney where it can easily clear multiple waves of enemies when activated.

It is important to consider your team composition when choosing a Buff Effect in the Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction: An Express of Eloquence as each of them has its pros and cons.
