Pokemon Go Rediscover Kanto Event: All You Need to Know

Niantic re-introduced the iconic Kanto region with a new biomes feature available for all players to access in Pokemon Go. Apart from regular field research tasks, players are encouraged to also participate in the Rediscover Kanto Special Research event for free and earn exciting rewards for their efforts.

The Rediscover Kanto Special Research requires players to complete five steps of tasks, which involve using Berries, Catching various Pokemon, and engaging in various other activities with your buddy Pokemon. Without further ado, here are all the tasks and rewards for this special research event in Pokemon Go.

Rediscover Kanto Special Research: Rewards and Tasks

The Rediscover Kanto Special Research event has five different sets of challenges. By completing each set, the game offers players various enticing rewards. Here are all the tasks listed, along with all the rewards they offer:

Step 1 out of 5

• Use 5 Berries to catch Pokemon: Bulbasaur encounter

• Feed your buddy 5 times: Charmander encounter

• Catch 20 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto regions: Squirtle encounter

• Rewards: 5000 XP, 2500 Stardust, and x1 Lucky Egg

Step 2 out of 5

• Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokemon: x20 Poke Ball

• Play with your buddy 3 times: x15 Great Ball

• Catch 30 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto regions: x10 Ultra Ball

• Rewards: 5000 XP, 2500 Stardust, x3 Fast

• Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokemon: x10 Razz Berry

• Earn 25 hearts with your buddy: x10 Nanab Berry

• Catch 40 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region: x10 Pinap Berry

• Rewards: 5000 XP, 2500 Stardust, x3 Charged

• Use 20 Berries to help catch Pokemon: x25 Bulbasaur Candy

• Earn 4 Candies exploring with your buddy: x25 Charmander Candy

• Catch 50 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region: x25 Squirtle Candy

• Rewards: 5000 XP, 2500 Stardust, x1 Lure Module

• Use 151 Berries to help catch Pokemon: 15100 XP

• Earn 15,100 Stardust: 15100 XP

• Catch 151 Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region: 15100 XP

• Rewards: 10000 Stardust, x1 Egg Incubator

Meanwhile, the normal field Research task rewards for this event provide Mega Energy for the following Pokémon:

• Venusaur Mega Energy

• Charizard Mega Energy

• Blastoise Mega Energy

Rediscover Kanto Special Research Event Schedule

The Rediscover Kanto Special Research began on 22nd April and will be available until 9th May at 8 PM PDT /  11 PM ET / 8:30 AM IST / 5 AM CEST.  This gives players over two weeks to complete this relatively easy event and unlock 20,000 Stardust, the Egg Incubator, and tons of XP.

The Event bonuses for Rediscover Kanto are as follows:

• Increased XP for a seven-day PokéStop spin streak.

• Increased XP for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak.

• Friendship levels will increase faster than normal through opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles!

• Increased chance to encounter Shiny Bulbasaur, Shiny Charmander, and Shiny Squirtle in their respective biomes!
