Building numerous structures has always been an integral part of Minecraft and it is one of the core gameplay elements that captivates numerous players. However, constructing complex, large-scale structures might become quite an ordeal as most of them require precise placement of blocks, and misplacing them can lead to a lot of wasted time, trying to rearrange them into the right slot.
Thankfully, the game allows you to incorporate a system where you can make schematics that will help you recreate your builds down to the last minuscule detail. Although it requires you to add certain mods to Minecraft, it is a fairly straightforward process and there are a variety of mods you can choose from. Here’s how you can do it.
Creating Blueprints in Minecraft Using Litematica
As mentioned above, creating schematics requires you to include certain modifiers in Minecraft. While there are numerous mods to choose from, Litematica seems to be one of the most accessible options available. Here are the prerequisites:
Fabric Loader
Fabric API
MaLiLib
Litematica
The Fabric Loader can be downloaded from the official Fabric site while the mod and the two extensions can be found on reputed modding sites like Curseforge, MCmods, etc.
Once you have downloaded the prerequisites, follow these steps to install them into your system:
Run the Fabric installer, select your Minecraft version, and click on the Install button.
The Fabric API and MaLiLib should be downloaded as .jar files. Cut them and place them into the mods folder present in Minecraft.
If you are on Windows, press Win+R, type %appdata% and click on Ok
This will open the folder location of your game and you must locate the Mods folder from here. Create one if you do not have it by default.
Mac users can find the game location at /Library/Application Support/Minecraft
Move Litematica’s .jar file to the same folder as well. Make sure it matches your game’s version.
Open the Minecraft launcher and choose the Fabric Loader to launch the game with any compatible mods.
How to Save Your Minecraft Builds Using Litematica?
Once your build is done, equip an ordinary stick from your inventory
While the stick is in your hands, hold CTRL and then scroll until the Litematica mode in the bottom left of your screen changes to Area Selection
Select your build by right-clicking on one corner and left-clicking on the other end. You will now see the entire structure being highlighted in-game.
Press the M key to open the Litematica menu and click on Area Editor
From here you can finetune your coordinates as you wish. Once you are done, click on the Save Schematics button.
Name your schematic and save it. You can also choose to Ignore Entities if you are only creating a simple build and there are no mobs inside the selected area.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about creating blueprints for your builds in Minecraft. Check out our other guides if you wish to know more about the game’s mechanics.
