Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Easter Eggs and References
Hideo Kojima's Office: In the game, there's an office belonging to a character named Hideo Kojima, who is a famous game director known for titles like the Metal Gear Solid series. This is a nod to the real-life Hideo Kojima.
V's Apartment: V's apartment contains several Easter eggs. One of the most notable is the Samurai jacket, a reference to the in-game band Samurai, fronted by Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves.
Johnny Silverhand's Guitar: You can find Johnny Silverhand's iconic guitar in the game, and you even have the option to play it during certain moments.
Blade Runner References: The game pays homage to the classic cyberpunk movie "Blade Runner" in several ways, including the use of the iconic "spinner" vehicle design and neon-infused cityscapes.
The Talking Gun: You can acquire a smart weapon called Skippy, which has a talking AI. Skippy is a reference to the film/book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
Rick and Morty Reference: In a side quest called "I Fought the Law," you can encounter a character who bears a striking resemblance to Rick from the animated series "Rick and Morty."
The Shining: One of the missions, "The Heist," includes references to Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation of Stephen King's novel "The Shining." You'll find a scene that recreates the iconic "Here's Johnny!" moment.
Star Wars: In one of the side quests, you can meet a character named Takemura who has a strong resemblance to Obi-Wan Kenobi from "Star Wars." He even says, "Help me, V, you're my only hope."
The Witcher 3 References: CD Projekt Red's previous game, "The Witcher 3," is referenced in several ways, including items, posters, and even a quest where you help a character retrieve his missing vehicle, which looks suspiciously like Roach, Geralt's horse. You can get Witcher-themed items if you have both the Witcher 3 game and Cyberpunk 2077 on the same GOG account.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: While exploring, you might come across a building called the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," which is a nod to the real-world institution.
Batman: There's a graffiti art piece in the game featuring Batman and the Joker. You can also get a Batmobile-looking car (Rayfield Caliburn) in the lategame.
Bee Movie: You can find a Bee Movie poster in one of the in-game shops.
Kojima Productions Logo: You can spot the Kojima Productions logo in the game's world, another nod to Hideo Kojima.
Moxes and Maelstrom Gang: Some gang members bear resemblances to characters from movies like "Mad Max: Fury Road."
Don Quixote: There are references to the literary character Don Quixote, including a quest called "Don't Lose Your Mind."
