Bungie Announces Destiny 2 X Ghostbusters Crossover Featuring Three New Cosmetic Items
Over the years, Bungie has grown quite the reputation for collaborating with several big-name videogame franchises such as Fortnite, The Witcher, Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed, and several PlayStation games such as God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, and more, for Destiny 2.
In an exciting turn of events, the studio has announced their new crossover, this time featuring Sony Pictures’ popular movie franchise Ghostbusters, to bring new cosmetic items into the game. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming collab.
Three New Ghostbusters-Themed Cosmetics Will Be Featured in Destiny 2
In an official X post from their Destiny 2 handle, Bungie showcased three new cosmetic items; the well-known Ecto-1 squad car, a Sparrow skin, and the iconic ghost Slimer, which is arguably the most recognizable item on the list. These items will be available from 19th March, just before the end of this year’s Guardian Games in-game event. Here are the expected times for each region:
9 AM PT
10:30 AM IST
5 PM BST
6 PM CEST
2 AM AEST 20th March
12 AM (Beijing Time)
While the Ecto-1 is expected to serve as a Guardian Ship, the Slimer will serve as a Ghost Shell, allowing you to terrify both enemies and squadmates. The demonic-looking Sparrow skin is supposedly inspired by the main villain in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which will receive its worldwide release on 22nd March, just three days after the release of these cosmetics.
Although fans speculate these items to be available free of cost, they will most likely be part of a paid bundle, expected to be priced somewhere between 2,200 to 2800 Silver which equates to 20 - 30 USD / 18.33 - 27.49 EUR / 1,655 - 2,483 INR approximately. Keep in mind that the price and rarity of these items have not been officially announced yet.
While Bungie has brought numerous other video game-inspired cosmetic items to Destiny 2 in the past, this will be the studio’s first collaboration with a movie franchise, besides the “Buster Ray” emote introduced during the Festival of the Lost, as pointed out by YouTuber Houndish. Unfortunately, Bungie does not seem to feature any Ghostbusters armor sets as they did for their previous collabs like Mass Effect.
