How to Get The Grandfather in Diablo 4

Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed some Uniques that are so rare that you are more likely to be struck by lightning than find one of these items. Since then, the community has gone into a frenzy trying to find these items while others feel that the game should not have items so rare that they are almost unobtainable even after hundreds of hours.

The Grandfather in Diablo 4 happens to be one of these items and consider yourself lucky if you happen to already own one of these. It is one of the best weapons for Barbarians and Druids but you can use it on essentially any character. If you are wondering how to increase your chances of getting The Grandfather in Diablo 4, here are some tips that might help.

How to increase your odds of getting The Grandfather

As you might expect, The Grandfather is obtainable only after you complete the main campaign. If you are not on your first character, you can skip the campaign entirely. You need to be at least World Tier Three to obtain the weapon but World Tier Four has higher drop rates so you are statistically more likely to get The Grandfather at the highest difficulty. 

It is a random drop and there is no specific dungeon or activity you can run to get it. Killing enemies, opening chests and essentially playing the game however you want is the way to get more drops. The weapon increases your critical strike damage by up to 100% which can offer you a massive DPS boost.

Here are the stats and effects of The Grandfather in Diablo 4:

• 1.00 Attacks per Second (Slow Weapon)

• +[732 - 1,359] Maximum Life

• Ignores Durability Loss

• Increases your Critical Strike Damage by [60 - 100]%

All of these stats are guaranteed to roll on the weapon. The range of the stats depends on the Item Power and your luck with the drop.

To target farm swords, you can consider doing Tree of Whisper quests and choosing sword/weapon caches. The same applies to Helltides. While we don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but getting the Grandfather is very difficult. 

Farming Helltides or Nightmare Dungeons (Tier 30 or higher) in a group is your best bet if you want to farm gear. Unfortunately, there is no in-game method to matchmake into dungeons or find players to play with. You need to rely on your friends or use Discord servers to find groups to play with.
