Valorant Champions 2022 Playoffs Stage Will Have a Live Audience

Valorant Champions 2022 is the culmination of this year’s Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) tournaments and all the top teams from around the globe shall go up against each other to win the title of “Champions” and get their hands on the prize pool. Being the second iteration of the tournament, Valorant Champions 2022 will look to defy all expectations and teams will bring their A-game to the stage. The tournament is all set to kick off on 31st August and will conclude on 18th September in Istanbul, Turkey. Riot Games confirmed that Valorant Champions 2022 will feature a live audience for the Playoffs Stage of the tournament.

In May, Riot said, “Our goal is to see our biggest international events played in front of a live audience and both of these cities [Copenhagen and Istanbul] provided clear pathways towards this goal, while also providing the best possible guarantee that all qualified teams will be able to safely attend and compete.”

Doubling down on this initial announcement, Riot took to social media through its Valorant Champions Tour handle and gave more details about the tournament and when it will be open for a live audience.

Riot Games announces live audience for Valorant Champions 2022 Playoffs

Valorant Champions 2022 features two stages: the Group Stage and the Playoffs. In the group stage, 16 teams will compete in groups of four and then fight for the top two spots in their respective groups to advance to the Playoffs. The Group Stage will conclude on 8th September and the Playoffs immediately commences on 9th September.

Riot Games announced on Twitter, “Hey players! We’re excited to share that #VALORANTChampions İstanbul will take place at the VW [Volkswagen] Arena & have a live audience starting with the Play-Off bracket, Sep 9-18th!”

It added that it was working fast to finalize the ticket purchasing information for the tournament and that it shall soon provide more details. “Thank you for bearing with us - for future events, we commit to providing much longer lead times.”

From this, it is evident that the Playoffs shall be played out at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul but it is unclear whether the Group Stage will also be played at the same venue.

The Volkswagen Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in the city and has hosted numerous concerts, fashion shows, award ceremonies, dance and theater shows, basketball games, and other sporting events. The standing area and the tribunes have a capacity of 6,500 people in total, with a 4,500 capacity in a seated setting.
