Riot Games has introduced new missions and rewards for the Eclipse 2022 event in League of Legends. This is the event that is following Anima Squad 2022 which began on 31st March and is scheduled to end on 2nd May. The Anima Squad 2022 event had regular missions, token bank missions, Anima Squad wardrobe missions, an orb mission, milestone missions, and weekly wins. Now, Riot has teased the new Eclipse skins, both Solar and Lunar Eclipse, for champions Sivir, Aatrox, Kayle, Sejuani, and Senna.
To see the newly added missions on the League of Legends client, players will have to log into the game, open the missions option in the chat menu, and sort the missions tab by “All Missions.”
“That was Inconvenient” Mission Reward
Along with two other Eclipse 2022 missions, players should be able to see a mission that reads “That was Inconvenient” as the third in the row. The reward for finishing the “That was Inconvenient” mission is Mythic Essence. According to Riot, players only need to play one matchmade game to earn the reward. Riot wrote, “Sorry for the trouble. Here’s something to make up for it!”
For those who don’t know, the Gemstones and Prestige Points have been combined into a single new currency that does not have an expiry and is now called the Mythic Essence. So, completing the “That was Inconvenient” Mission by playing one matchmade game will grant the player 10 Mythic Essence.
There are a variety of game modes in League of Legends and matchmade games are basically the ones that are not custom matches. A matchmade game could be a normal match, a ranked duo, normal draft mode, the Howling Abyss, and even Teamfight Tactics (TFT).
That was Inconvenient: When was the last time this mission was rolled out?
The last time the “That was Inconvenient” mission was rolled out to players across all regions of League of Legends was in April 2020 when Riot Games had introduced the Galaxies Event.
On 21st April 2020, Principal Game Designer Justin “Xenogenic” Hanson wrote on Twitter, “Lastly, this will be in an article going live on Wed: ‘Due to widespread service issues during the event, all pass owners will receive a mission to play 1 game, rewarding 175 tokens for EUW [Europe West], 150 for BR [Brazil] and NA [North America], and 120 for other regions. These numbers are based on the amount of tokens you would've been able to earn during the time most of you were unable to log in or queue up, with some regions affected more than others.’”
Essentially, Riot gave away free tokens to all the players to make up for the server issues that could have potentially caused the players to miss out on playing games and earning rewards.
The reason or the “inconvenience” for which Riot Games has rolled out this mission and reward in LoL Patch 12.8 has not been made clear yet but it is evident that Riot is trying to make up for some client-based issues, possibly with the new Hextexh crafting system or the Mythic Essence Store since it is giving away 10 Mythic Essence for just one game.
