Team Heretics mid-laner Perkz has reportedly been benched from his starting position ahead of the LEC 2024 Spring Split.
The organization is reportedly opting for rookie mid-laner Zwyroo as Perkz’s replacement.

In a surprising turn of events in the League of Legends EMEA [Europe, Middle East & Africa] Championship 2024, Team Heretics mid-laner and veteran Luka "Perkz" Perković has reportedly been benched from his starting position on the team. This development was reported by Sheep Esports. The organization is also reportedly opting for rookie mid-laner Artur "Zwyroo" Trojan as Perkz’s replacement.

There were several cryptic tweets from other players and personalities in the LEC including Perkz himself.

Perkz Reportedly Benched Ahead of LEC 2024 Spring

According to the Sheep Esports report and its sources, Perkz has been benched by Team Heretics and the pro player will no longer compete in the LEC. It is also stated that the team will look to promote SuperLiga mid-laner Zwyroo to the main LEC roster.

It should be noted that, if confirmed, this will be the second major roster swap Team Heretics has made before the Spring Split. It reportedly signed Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus earlier this month in the place of support Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser.

Sheep Esports' sources also claimed that these roster changes are a result of Team Heretics' poor showing in the LEC 2024 Winter Split, where it ended in 7th place in the playoffs.

What's interesting is that Sheep Esports reported that Team Heretics was not planning on benching Perkz for Zwyroo. The last-minute change was allegedly due to a dispute between Perkz and Team Heretics' managers. Team Heretics was reportedly practising with Perkz in Berlin for the Spring Split and it scrimmed with him on the team on 1st March.

Meanwhile, on 1st March, fellow Team Heretics player and Perkz's former G2 teammate Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski cryptically tweeted, "xd."

Likewise, Perkz tweeted, "#KeepSmiling." Commenting on this development, Twitter user and LEC stats observer ExpressLOL said, "In Sheep Esports article it's legit typed that PERKZ played a scrim TODAY... I wonder what happened at night here??? Did They fistfight or what?! Perkz tried some TKO on manager?! It sounds like some omega crazy thing and I thought BDS things was crazy."

Only in the off-season, Team Heretics signed the trio of Luka "Perkz" Perković, Martin "Wunder" Nordahl Hansen, and Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski. The trio once used to be the core of G2 Esports' legendary lineup.

Currently, Team Heretics' 2024 roster looks like this:

  • Top: Martin "Wunder" Nordahl Hansen

  • Jungle: Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski

  • Mid: TBD

  • ADC: Victor "Flakked" Lirola Tortosa

  • Support: Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus
