The League of Legends European Champions (LEC) is currently in the middle of its 2022 Summer Split and has already gotten through two weeks of play. Week 3 of the LEC 2022 Summer Split kicks off today on 1st July and SK Gaming has made a big roster change ahead of this week’s games. The Summer Split has not been favoring SK Gaming which stands at the bottom of the table with a 4-1 score. Now, the team has announced that its starting attack damage carry (ADC) Jean “Jezu” Massol will not be a part of the LEC roster for the foreseeable future.
SK Gaming brings in Gadget to replace Jezu
The organization stated that Jezu was unwell during last week’s games but chose to play anyway. It added, “After his condition didn't improve, at the beginning of this week we mutually decided that he will take some time off and focus on recovery.”
SK Gaming also said that the team has been practicing together with Ilya "Gadget" Makavchuk from SK Prime, the academy team of SK Gaming. Gadget will start in the LEC for Week 3 and the organization added that it would provide further updates as soon as they are available.
SK Gaming hoped for Jezu’s speedy recovery and said, “We'd like to take this moment to thank the entire SK Prime roster who have been very supportive and cooperative despite the impact the situation has had on their practice.”
The team has already faced and lost against MAD Lions, Fnatic, Astralis, and Misfits Gaming, and has secured its only win against Team BDS in Week 1 of the LEC 2022 Summer Split.
Gadget has been a part of the League of Legends Esports scene since 2016 and has been a part of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region and Europe. His current team SK Prime is fielded in the Strauss Prime League 1st Division, the highest tier of the German ERL (European Regional League) circuit. SK Prime is tied for first place along with Berlin International Gaming, Schalke 04, and Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition in the summer split.
To those who follow international competitions, Gadget is not a stranger. He has made appearances in international League of Legends esports events in the past. He made it to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in 2019 with Vega Squadron and also appeared at Worlds 2020 alongside Unicorns of Love.
For Gadget, this is an opportune moment to shine in the premier league of Europe and also pick up some crucial wins for SK Gaming.
