T1 Entertainment and Sports reportedly announced that Faker has donated $25K USD to flood relief measures to aid those affected in the Seoul disaster.
This is not the first philanthropic venture by the pro player as he had also contributed funds during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

League of Legends pro and Korean superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok reportedly donated 30 Million Korean Won (KRW), roughly $25,000 USD, to assist the relief efforts for victims affected by the recent floods in Seoul, South Korea. According to a report by Inven Global, T1 Entertainment & Sports announced on 17th August that Faker had donated the sum to Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. The Guardian reported that extreme flooding in South Korea last week submerged cars, streets, and buildings because torrential downpours brought more than a month’s worth of rainfall in just a few days. As of 12th August, a total of 13 people have been reportedly killed in the flooding in Seoul.

Faker, on the donation, said, “I hope that my contribution will help the victims of the flooding so that they can return back to their daily lives.” Notably, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association is a civil association that was established in 1961 by broadcasting companies, newspaper companies, and social organizations to help those suffering from unexpected disasters. The association takes prompt and professional relief responses to disasters by establishing a cooperative network with central government agencies, local governments, major corporations, and media outlets.

Those who have been following Faker and his journey would recall that this is not the first time that the League of Legends superstar has helped a cause. He has been actively contributing to philanthropic measures since 2019. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Faker donated 30 Million Korean Won to the Community Chest of Korea and in 2021, the pro player again donated 50 Million Korean Won ($ 47.7K USD) to the Seoul Social Welfare Fund to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. He reportedly said, “I want to contribute a small part to help people through this harsh winter, and at the same time help people reduce the burden due to the prolongation of the pandemic.

His name was engraved on the wall of fame of Gangseo District in Seoul, to honor his contributions to charity, reported One Esports.
