Paper Rex pulled off an exciting wall boost strategy against Team Liquid in the decider match for Group A at Valorant Champions.
The boost can be used on defense on Pearl and the team comp should have a Raze and a Sage to use this strat.

Watching Valorant players use agent abilities creatively is always exciting. Though these molly and arrow lineups could be annoying to deal with in-game, it shows the amount of practice and hard work that went in while finding the right pixels. With Sage, players almost always use her walls defensively but there has been an emerging trend where one uses these walls in creative ways, both on attack and defense, to gain advantages. In the Valorant Champions 2022 Group A decider match between Paper Rex (PRX) and Team Liquid (TL), Paper Rex put to use a really good TikTok Sage wall on Pearl while defending.

The Paper Rex vs Team Liquid matchup was really exciting to watch. Team Liquid won the first map Haven (15-13) while Paper Rex came back dominant on Pearl and won it 13-4. However, Paper Rex could not carry the momentum into game 3 on Ascent and lost the series.

What was the wall boost that Paper Rex pulled off?

Sage walls can help boost other agents onto a higher pane and therefore enemies often get surprised and picked off by these boosts. Paper Rex’s Khalish "d4v41" Rusyaidee, who was playing Sage, used his wall to boost Jing Jie “Jinggg” Wang (Raze) onto the boxes located in B Link.

This angle allows the team on defense to see the enemies rush into B Ramp through the gap in between the buildings. Players on the attacking team can still spot this boost, but since it is an unexpected place to consider clearing, the Raze will always get kills.

To pull off this wall boost, both the Sage and Raze players on the defense side need to work together. At the round’s start, the Raze will have to put the satchel charge near the boxes and jump as it explodes. This will launch the player in the air and while this is happening, the Sage will have to place the wall right on top of the boxes. If timed correctly, as Raze jumps up high in the air, the Sage wall will solidify under the Raze and the Raze can watch B Main freely.

Team Liquid's Dom "soulcas" Sulcas noticed the boost first but was the first to die to Jinggg. Following this, Jinggg used the Raze boom bot to deal with Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom’s Phoenix ultimate.

Off the back of this defeat, Paper Rex has been eliminated from Valorant Champions 2022 and Team Liquid has advanced to the finals. Click here to read more about Valorant Champions 2022 and to follow the scores and updates from the tournament.
