Paper Rex announced the return of Wang "Jinggg" Jie to its starting lineup.
As a result, Monyet, who replaced Jinggg, has been affected by this sudden move.

Singaporean esports organization Paper Rex, in a statement, announced the return of Wang "Jinggg" Jie to the starting lineup of its Valorant roster. This was possible as the player was able to avoid his mandatory military service owing to a medical condition. Following this, former Global Esports pro Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha's position on the team has been affected. Monyet has now been moved to the reserve role.

Jinggg Returns to Pro Play, Paper Rex Reinstates Him As Active Player

On 29th March, Paper Rex announced the return of Jingg to its active roster on its social media channels. It said Jinggg will return to competitive play and participate in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific Split 1 right away.

Talking about this development, PRX Chief Gaming Officer Harley "dsn" Örvall said, "We were always prepared for the time that Jing Jie would have to register for his military service. Plans to keep our Valorant roster’s competitive edge began as early as the start of 2023. However, we consider ourselves extremely fortunate that recent developments allow Jing Jie to continue competing on our team. Naturally, we’re ecstatic and are working to ensure Jing Jie’s documents and paperwork are in order to get him back in the game as soon as possible.

Talking about Jinggg's contract situation, Paper Rex recalled how Jinggg returned to Singapore to register for mandatory military service following the conclusion of VCT 2023 season. The organization stated that he has been following up with the processes including medical examinations and that it was assessed that Jinggg has a life-long medical condition, which is now managed with ongoing treatment.

It added, "Upon medical evaluation and review, he is medically unfit for military service. Paper Rex has determined that his medical condition does not affect his ability to compete at the highest levels of esports. Jinggg’s medical condition is a personal and private matter, therefore, Paper Rex and Jinggg’s family request that the public respect his privacy in this regard."

However, during this process, Jinggg remained signed to Paper Rex as a reserve and now, with him returning, Paper Rex signed a contract extension with the pro until the end of 2026.

Paper Rex also acknowledged Monyet's contributions to the team and its top three placing at VCT Masters Madrid 2024. However, Monyet will be signed with the team as a reserve player.

As a result, the current Paper Rex roster is as follows:

  • Aaron ‘mindfreak’ Leonhart

  • Jason ‘f0rsakeN’ Susanto

  • Khalish ‘d4v41’ Rusyaidee

  • Ilia ‘something’ Petrov

  • Jing Jie ‘Jinggg’ Wang

  • Cahya ‘Monyet’ Nugraha (Reserve)

  • Alexandre ‘Alecks’ Salle (Coach)
