NICKMERCS and Dr Disrespect Call Apex Legends the Best Battle Royale Game Out There
FaZe Clan Twitch streamer Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff took a break from Warzone earlier this year and after switching to Apex Legends he does not want to return to the Call of Duty franchise. He called Respawn’s game the best battle royale game on the market right now and a lot of other popular content creators agreed with him. Even Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV, a content creator who said that he does not want to stream Apex, said that Nick is right.
Why NICKMERCS thinks Apex Legends is the best battle royale out there
NICKMERCS stated that Apex Legends one of the best due to its successful ranked mode and the fact that it is getting its annual map update soon, is exciting. The ranked mode is one of the differentiating factors between Apex and other battle royales with the points system rewarding not just placements but also kills and assists. There are limited-time ranked rewards and the top 750 players in the world get access to exclusive cosmetics to show off.
After NICKMERCS tweeted out praising Apex, Jack “CouRage” Dunlop said that he agrees with him and that it’s not even close. CouRage is one of the biggest Warzone streamers who switched to Apex and he has been enjoying it as well. After the influx of content creators on the platform, Apex became the number one trending game on Twitch at one point. 2021 has also been its biggest year so far with a spike in concurrent player count, with its playerbase on Steam doubling over the past year. The game is set to have its biggest year in esports as well with the Apex Legends Global Series set to introduce a $5 Million USD prize pool.
Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar revealed that he is no longer interested in playing Apex Legends anymore. The streamer ditched Warzone in favor of Apex Legends last month and joined NICKMERCS and CouRage to play Apex. But after YouTube signed Tim as part of an exclusivity deal, he no longer wants to play Apex Legends. He said earlier this year that “There’s no violence, speed. There’s no momentum!”
Some other creators who got on the Apex Legends hype train have also returned to their games of choice. But there is no denying that Apex is growing and it remains to be seen if games like Halo: Infinite and Battlefield 2042 can surpass the popularity of battle royales later this year.
