Mythic Essence permanently replaced Gemstones and Prestige Points in League of Legends.
This new currency can be used to unlock special skins, accessories, and other items.
Riot Games has already unvaulted six Prestige skins which are now available in the rotating Mythic Essence shop in the client.

League of Legends Patch 12.6 introduced the players to Mythic Essence which replaced the Gemstone and Prestige Point system within the game. This new in-game currency does not have an expiry date and can be used to unlock Mythic tier content in Hextech Crafting. Riot Games had converted all the Gemstones simply lying in players’ inventory into Mythic Essence. Each Gemstone was converted into 10 Mythic Essence, whereas Prestige Points were retired completely without any conversion.

How to access Mythic Essence content?

To access and view the Mythic Essence content in League of Legends, players need to log into the client and click on the loot tab on the right side of the screen. The loot tab will feature all the champion shards, tokens, and skin shards among other collectibles available to the player.

In the “Materials” category, players should be able to spot a purple icon similar to the old Gemstone. Clicking on this would take one to the Mythic Essence store. Additionally, the icon will also show the number of Mythic Essence that the player has managed to collect.

Mythic Essence can be used to buy special skins, accessories, and other items in the game. The new Mythic Shop features content that rotates on a regular basis, including the return of past Prestige skins.

Mythic Essence

Players can get their hands on Mythic Essence in the following ways:

  • 10 Mythic Essence every 50 levels

  • Hextech Chests

  • Masterwork Chests

  • Milestones

Additionally, in order to balance out the removal of Prestige Points from the game, Riot has also increased the drop rate of Mythic Essence in Masterwork Chests.

To get the community excited about this new system, Riot Games is also making Mythic Essence available through a one-time mission between 31st March and 2nd May.

What’s available in the current Mythic Essence shop?

In a blogpost explaining the Mythic Content Overhaul, Riot explained that Prestige skins released at least 1 year ago shall be eligible for unvaulting in the Mythic shop and that two Prestige skins shall be unvaulted each month.

Ashen Knight Pyke

According to Riot, here's how Mythic Essence (ME) prices will be determined:

  • First unvault: 125 ME

  • Second unvault: 150 ME (2019 Prestiges start here)

  • Third+ unvault: 200 ME (2018 Prestiges start here).

For April 2022, Riot has already unvaulted six Prestige skins and now these skins will remain in the store for the next three months.

The following are the Prestige skins that are already unvaulted:

  • K/DA Kai'Sa Prestige Edition (200 ME, original owners get a special edition)

  • PROJECT: Irelia Prestige Edition (150 ME, original owners get a special edition)

  • Pulsefire Thresh Prestige Edition (150 ME, original owners get a special edition)

  • Arcanist Zoe Prestige Edition (125 ME)

  • Spirit Blossom Teemo Prestige Edition (125 ME)

  • Battle Queen Diana Prestige Edition (125 ME)

Coming to Hextech skins, Hextech Annie and Hextech Amumu are also featured in the Mythic Essence shop currently. Additionally, the newly released Ashen Knight Pyke, the new seasonal mythic skin, is also up for grabs.

When the second phase of the Mythic content overhaul drops, Showcase and Masterwork Milestones will also grant Mythic Essence to the players.
