MSI 2022 Knockout Stage: Schedule, Results, & Other Details
Take Notes, one last time!
League of Legends’ Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2022 is almost coming to a closure with only four teams standing tall at the Knockout Stage. The tournament had gotten off to a great start in Busan, Korea where 11 teams battled it out in the Group Stage from which only six moved on to the Rumble. After five days of double round-robin matches and almost thirty games later in the Rumble Stage, the top four teams have been decided.
MSI 2022 Rumble Stage surprised everyone in the last two days with unpredictable wins and big upsets. It was a reality check for most of the major region teams who were shown the true colors of best-of-ones and the importance of drafting in this tournament.
To everyone’s surprise, PSG Talon defeated G2 Esports and set the European squad on a very big losing streak. Talking about upsets, Evil Geniuses also defeated Korea’s T1 on its own home soil. Likewise, Saigon Buffalo showed up big on the last two days of the Rumble stage and wreaked havoc on the plans of G2 Esports and PSG Talon, making the standings very complex.
With the outcomes of Rumble Day 5 matches being pretty standard, the teams avoided crazy tiebreaker scenarios.
Royal Never Give Up (RNG), T1, G2 Esports, and Evil Geniuses – the expected four – have made it to the semi-finals. Despite a valiant showing, both PSG Talon and Saigon Buffalo were knocked out of contention.
With the next stage of the MSI 2022 – the Knockout Stage – starting on 27th May, Riot Games and League of Legends Esports (LoLEsports) have revealed the schedule for the semi-finals.
