Players have been dealing with a frustrating audio bug involving Mad Maggie’s Ultimate Wrecking Ball.
After running on the boost pads dropped from her Ultimate, the audio of the footsteps seems to be very loud and the sound effect of the ultimate ability infinitely loops.

Apex Legends players have been reporting an audio glitch in the game involving Mad Maggie’s Ultimate. Her ultimate Wrecking Ball has been reportedly making footstep audio louder and the ability’s sound effects have been infinitely looping in the game in some instances. Some players reported the Mad Maggie audio bug back in May on social media platforms and on the Electronic Arts (EA) bug reports page. Mad Maggie was made available as a playable character in Apex Legends in February and she hails from Salvo, a conflict-ridden land where Fuse hails from. Mad Maggie was called a “cutthroat punk-rock warlord and the Outlands’ meanest mad-lass” by Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts.

Mad Maggie audio bug caused by Wrecking Ball

Audio in Apex Legends is an important factor and it is absolutely essential to pay attention to footsteps and other audio cues while chasing enemy squads in the Outlands. There have been instances where players have complained about the disappearance of audio cues in crucial fights, making it impossible to track enemies. Now, there is an audio bug in Apex Legends that gets triggered sometimes due to the usage of Mad Maggie's ultimate Wrecking Ball.

Mad Maggie’s Wrecking Ball ability allows her to throw a disruptive ball that releases speed-boosting pads. It detonates near any enemies in its path for a maximum of 20 damage.

The ball bounces off floors, ceilings, and walls and has a 90-second cooldown. The speed boosters from the ultimate provide a 30% movement speed buff which lasts for three seconds.

The Wrecking Ball bug causes an amplification of audio where the player can hear only their footsteps along with the ultimate sound looping infinitely.

In a recent video, Timmy "iiTzTimmy" An had troubles in Apex Legends after using the speed boost dropped by Mad Maggie’s Ultimate. He rushed a squad using the speed boosts and Timmy noticed that his footsteps were thunderous. While using a Phoenix Kit after eliminating a squad, Timmy said, “My game is extremely loud. No, dude. I just can’t with this audio.

How to fix the Mad Maggie audio bug in Apex Legends?

There are two possible ways to fix this Mad Maggie Wrecking Ball audio bug in Apex Legends. According to testimonies from the community, they are as follows:

  1. Step on another speed boost pad dropped by Mad Maggie’s Wrecking ball at a later time in the game.

  2. Leave the lobby and restart the game again.

In May, a player named tzarVOLVER wrote on the EA bug report thread, “On stepping on one of the boost pads dropped by Mad Maggie’s ult[imate], the boost sound effect looped infinitely until I left the lobby. I am not entirely sure what I did to trigger this other than running on an enemy’s boost.

In the same thread, another player named Fat9l added that he had the same issue with his own Mad Maggie ultimate multiple times and said, “The only way to stop the audio is to step on another pad at a later time, or to leave the lobby.
