LoL Patch 12.20 Preview: Rammus & Blitzcrank Jungle Buffed, Aatrox Nerfed

The end of the season is fast approaching with just four more patches to be rolled out for Season 12 of League of Legends (LoL). The last patch of the year will be LoL Patch 12.23 which is currently scheduled for the start of December. Riot Games previewed LoL Patch 12.20 on 11th October and revealed the champions who are slated for buffs and nerfs. Notably, there are a handful of champion, systems, and item adjustments in LoL Patch 12.10.

Lead designer on game balance Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison wrote on Twitter, “Patch 12.20! Buffing Rammus, because he went down a lot after a change to how his W calculates. Small buffs to others on the list. Blitz JG [jungle] changes are a buff, but he needs a decent tap down for Supp [support]. Aatrox is still too strong after Eclipse changes, so tapping him down.”

LoL Patch 12.20 nerfs

Three champions are getting nerfed in LoL Patch 12.20. They are:

• Sett

• Aatrox

• Maokai

Taking into account the meta at Worlds 2022, it makes sense for Riot to tap down the potential of Aatrox and Maokai. Sett has always been a menace in Solo Queue games and he survives extended team fights.

Riot is also nerfing the Lethal Tempo rune. By using the rune, basic attacks, on-attack against enemy champions, will grant a stack for six seconds, stacking up to six times. Players will gain bonus attack speed for each stack, and more attack speed at maximum stacks.

Following this, the item Frozen Heart will also get nerfed in LoL Patch 12.20. Frozen Heart is a legendary item in League of Legends and it costs 2500 gold and grants 80 armor, 400 mana, 20 ability haste, and unique passives (Winter's Caress, Rock Solid).

LoL Patch 12.20 buffs and adjustments

A total of six champions are receiving buffs from Riot Games in LoL Patch 12.20. They are as follows:

• Jayce

• Wukong (Top)

• Gwen

• Evelynn

• Ziggs

• Rammus

Meanwhile, Elise is getting a quality-of-life (QOL) adjustment on the range of her Q: Neurotoxin/Venomous Bite. Riot is also nerfing Blizcrank support but adjusting his jungle ratios to make him a bit stronger. Demonic Embrace is also getting adjusted in the coming patch.

According to Riot Games’ official patch schedule, LoL Patch 12.20 will go live on the servers on 19th October. Players should be able to test out these changes on the public-beta environment (PBE) and provide feedback to the company this week.
