Highlights
All the champions and the systems in the game have undergone major changes to combat the ever-increasing damage in League of Legends.
Riot has increased champions’ base stats and has nerfed healing, shielding, and sustain in the game.
A number of supporting systems have also been adjusted for an overall balance. Each champion has also received individual adjustments to be in line with this new durability update.

Riot Games released its biggest patch ever for League of Legends through LoL Patch 12.10 on 25th May. This patch is boosting vital stats for all the 159 champions in the game and according to Riot, this is a way to combat and reduce the overall amount of damage that is currently prevalent in the game.

Simply put, this Durability Update patch will increase the tankiness for all the champions and will also reduce the healing and shielding to offset the increase in survivability. While the patch’s preview was teased by game designer Ezra “Phlox” Lynn, he said, “The TLDR is this is a pretty disruptive patch and we'll be watching closely and ready to react. I'd love to know what y'all think about this patch!

Since LoL Patch 12.10 is pretty massive, Riot has decided to hold off all balance changes for it and shall release a balance micropatch in the coming days.

In the LoL Patch 12.10 notes, Riot wrote, “This patch is a doozy, y'all. We've been working on a sweeping set of changes to increase champion durability across the board. So, unlike other patches that typically focus on balance via individual tweaks, 12.10 is all about evenly increasing durability overall (and nerfing related systems accordingly, like heals, shields, and sustain).

As a result of this patch, players can expect to see longer fights throughout the game and it shall require more effort to burst down enemies. The game will have more windows of opportunities for individuals to showcase their skills and even put forth some counter play rather than being one shotted.

Champion Durability Update

Durability Base Stat Package

All champions are getting a boost in their base health, health per level, armor per level, and magic resist per level. Thanks to LoL Patch 12.10, all champions will receive the following Durability Base Stat Package:

  • Base Health: +70

  • Health Growth: +14

  • Armor Growth: +1.2

  • Magic Resist Growth: +0.8

  • Notably, Thresh is receiving an adjusted stat package and those details can be found below alongside all champion stats.

Riot added that it is nerfing heals, shields, and sustain since increasing durability means that these systems would matter more to everyone. “These changes apply to all parts of the game, including champions, items, runes, Summoner Spells, and objectives."

Heals, Shields, Sustain, and Grievous Wounds

  • Healing: Reduced by 10% earlier in-game, 28% percent in later phases of the game (varies by champion)

  • Shielding: Reduced by 10%

  • Omnivamp: Reduced by 10%

  • Grievous Wounds: 40% percent reduced healing changed to 30% percent reduced

  • Enhanced Grievous Wounds: 60% percent reduced changed to 50% percent reduced.
