The League of Legends EMEA [Europe, Middle East, and Africa] Championship (LEC) underwent major changes to its format at the start of 2023 with the competitive season beginning with a Winter Slit, followed by the usual Spring and Summer Splits.
The top six teams from across the 2024 season from all three splits will fight for the championship in a double elimination bracket and for qualification to Worlds 2024 during the LEC Season Finals. G2 Esports won the LEC 2024 Winter Split and punched its ticket to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 to be held in China and the 2024 Season Finals.
Here’s all you need to know about the LEC 2024 Spring Split.
A Guide to the LEC 2024 Spring Split
The LEC 2024 Spring Season is the second split of the second year of the newly merged EMEA League of Legends system. It is the sixth year of the LEC and the second season following the changed format. The Winter split features two different stages. Stage 1 will see all ten teams competing in a best-of-one (BO1), single round-robin setup. Meanwhile, the top eight teams will advanced to Stage 2, a double-elimination playoffs stage. Stage 2 will feature both best-of-threes and fives.
Before checking out the format, here are some pointers to keep in mind about the LEC 2024 Season:
LEC will merge the Group Stage and Playoffs for each split into a single bracket.
To better support the well-being of teams and players, LEC is extending the break between Winter and Spring Split, and also the break between Spring Split and MSI, by one week each.
Riot Games is also reducing the break between the Summer Split and the LEC Season Finals by one week.
The way Championship Points (CP) are given out is also changing in 2024.
