Highlights
Earlier last week, it was reported that Team Heretics mid-laner Perkz has was benched from his starting position ahead of the LEC 2024 Spring Split.
Team Heretics posted a roster update video on 5th March, confirming the reports about Perkz and Kaiser.
Fans and League personality called out Team Heretics for its decision-making around its LEC roster.

On 1st March, it was reported that Team Heretics, competing in the League of Legends EMEA [Europe, Middle East & Africa] Championship 2024, had benched mid-laner and veteran Luka "Perkz" Perković from his starting position on the team. This development was reported by Sheep Esports which also stated that Heretics opted for rookie mid-laner Artur "Zwyroo" Trojan as Perkz’s replacement.

Likewise, following the end of the Winter Split, it was also reported that the team signed Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus in the place of support Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser. Both these developments were confirmed by Team Heretics on 5th March as it released a roster update video for its fans. However, this did not bode well for the organization as it received a flak from the community, from both fans and League of Legends personalities alike.

Former LEC caster Marc "Caedrel" Lamont was one of the many who called out Team Heretics and its decisions surrounding its roster.

Caedrel Calls Out Team Heretics on Twitter

Team Heretics released a video saying that the changes it made to its roster were due to leadership and communication issues within the team. The announcement video featured the organization’s Chief Gaming Officier Arnau Vidal and its League of Legends GM Alvar "Araneae" Martín Aleñar.

Fans quickly called out some of the strange statements made in the video. On Twitter, one user said, "I'm sorry but if your team is 'missing leadership' with Jankos Perkz Wunder something is wrong."

Likewise, another comment read, "It is so funny to say that 3/5ths of the roster that brought EU its first international title lacks synergy. Expecting your fans to believe either means you think very little of your fans or you just don't care about giving honest statements."

One of the biggest content creators to call out Team Heretics was former LEC caster Caedrel. He listed out multiple points conveyed in the video and pointed out how they were contradictory.

He tweeted, "'team lacks leadership' - has wunder jankos perkz

'we believe in our academy' - zwyroo has been in academy for 2 years and not to take anything away from him but perkz was not even benched for performance

saying scrims were 'worse' after trymbi joined??

red flag trash video."

Interestingly, reports from last week also alleged that Perkz was benched due to a dispute between him and the managers. While the community is clearly not convinced with the direction that Team Heretics has taken, only time will tell if it was the right call.

LEC 2024 Spring Split is all set to kick off on 9th March.
