League of Legends Worlds 2022: Regional Seeding, Schedule, Venues & More
The League of Legends World Championship is one of the most exciting tournaments to watch as the top teams from each region across the world battle it out to become the champion. The winning team gets to lift the trophy, take home the prize money, and of course, get custom skins made for all the players. For the longest time, fans and teams have been wondering about the seeding and the schedule for Worlds 2022, and Riot Games has finally answered them.
Regional seeding for Worlds 2022
Riot Games announced that the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will receive four seeds at Worlds 2022, and will be the only region to have two teams play in the Play-In stage. A total of 24 teams from across the globe will participate in the international tournament and Riot informed that the League of Legends Continental League (LCL) will not be sending a representative this year.
It said, “Unfortunately, the LCL will not be able to send a representative to Worlds 2022. The LCL slot will be granted to the region that has had the best performance during international events over the past two years, but does not already have 4 team berths: Europe.”
The European league has been performing really well at international events and because Korea and China already have four seeds each, this spot went to Europe.
The following is the official seeding for each region at Worlds 2022:
China ( League of Legends Pro League - LPL) - 4 teams
Korea (League of Legends Champions Korea - LCK) - 4 teams
Europe (LEC) - 4 teams
North America (League of Legends Championship Series LCS) - 3 teams
