While Call of Duty is still celebrating 50 years of hip-hop with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage, Activision has already teased another collaboration with the legendary Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series. The developer took to Twitter (X) to announce the crossover. Lara Croft will likely be available in her exclusive bundle in both Call of Duty titles. One of the most iconic female protagonists in gaming is making her way to the fields of Al Mazrah. The image shows a silhouetted Lara with pistols drawn, ready to jump into the action. The accompanying caption reads, “Pistols ready. Prepared for drop in. Lara Croft is coming to Call of Duty @tombraider.”
When does the Lara Croft Operator release in Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2?
The developer has not announced an official release date for the Lara Croft crossover. However, A Playstation blog post mentioned that the Lara Croft Operator bundle will be arriving in the mid-season. Thus, we can assume this means the Season 5 Reloaded update, scheduled for the end of August.
How to get the Lara Croft Operator in Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2
The Lara Croft Operator skin is expected to be part of an exclusive bundle. It is still unclear if she will be part of a paid bundle or not. However, going by Activision’s earlier precedents, she will likely be behind a paywall. She will likely cost around 2,400 COD Points, if other similar bundles are considered a benchmark.
Activision is no stranger to collaboration. Its string of crossovers with shows like The Boys, the ongoing hip-hop collabs with Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg and now Lara Croft indicate that the developer is following in the footsteps of Epic Games.
Lara Croft has been out of the pop culture spotlight for a while now, with her last game Shadow of the Tomb Raider hitting shelves in 2018. However, A new installment in the franchise is expected soon. Crystal Dynamic, the studio behind the Tomb Raider game series, confirmed the development of a new game during State of Unreal in April 2022 .
According to exputer, Crystal Dynamics’ new Tomb Raider title is being developed under Amazon Games and is being led-up to a reveal later this year. The Call of Duty x Lara Croft crossover may be the first step in building to this announcement.
