Riot Games will be releasing more Mid-Scope Updates in Season 13.
The developers confirmed that they are making changes to Ivern, in addition to Rell and Neeko.

At the start of the season, Riot Games confirmed that it will continue to tweak older champions in League of Legends by way of Mid-scope updates to bring them to the forefront of the playing field along with the newer-generation champions. Mid-scope updates have been generally received well by the player base and champions who received such reworks, including Taliyah, Olaf, and Swain were huge hits in the community. In the latest Dev Update video, Riot Games confirmed that it is working on Mid-scope updates for Rell, Neeko, and Ivern. While it has been talking about the mini-reworks for Rell and Neeko for quite some time now, the company shared its idea of bringing updates to Ivern and Daisy.

Rell, Neeko and Ivern gear up for mid-scope updates

Riot Games developers Jeremy “Brightmoon” Lee and Andrei “Meddler” van Roon addressed champion updates in League of Legends. They acknowledged that not all champions in the game have the same needs – some need visual updates, some gameplay, and some a mix of both. Meddler stated that now that the Yuumi rework has been released, they are focusing on delivering other champions including Rell, Neeko, and Ivern.

It is important to understand what mid-scope updates are. While they are not complete reworks of champions, they are adjustments made on a smaller scale to the champions’ kits to help improve their pick and win rates in the game. Riot Games rolls out these updates regularly to revive these champions and bring them back into play on Summoner’s Rift. What’s more is that the mid-scope updates take lesser time to push.

Late last year, Riot Games talked about the Rell mid-scope update and it noted that the Design Manager on the League Champions team Stephen “Raptorr” Auker will be working on Rell’s update. Rell is a support champion who was released in 2020. Though she was intended to be a tank champion with an ability kit packed with crowd control, she fell off drastically from the meta both in casual and pro play.

On the other hand, Neeko’s mid-scope update is all about making her kit even more exciting for players. At the start of the season, Game designer Ezra “Phlox” Lynn gave a sneak peek of Neeko’s passive. Now, instead of just mimicking ally champions, Neeko can turn into minions, jungle plants, monsters, and even Teemo’s shrooms.

Explaining these updates further, Meddler said, “Right now, we’re working on Rell where we are trying to help her live up to her mounted-knight-lancer fantasy that we think is pretty compelling, but not quite there. Neeko, we’re still pursuing her passive that lets her transform into a wider range of things across the Rift.

Talking about Ivern next, he talked about the champion’s usability. He added, “We’re particularly looking at some usability changes for Daisy there. We’ll have more on those at a later date as well.

For those unaware of what Daisy is, it is Ivern’s ultimate ability.

R Daisy: Ivern summons his sentinel friend Daisy to fight with him. Daisy will send out a shockwave if she attacks the same champion three times in a row.

So players can look out for some interesting changes lined up for Ivern and his friend Daisy in the coming weeks.
