The League of Legends (LoL) community has been very ecstatic ever since Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson tweeted about LoL. MrBeast is one of the most popular content creators and YouTube personalities, and he is famous for his ever-growing YouTube empire. It is not a surprise to see MrBeast showing interest in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) since he has already talked about wanting to own a League of Legends team. He has also been very vocal and interested in the world of gaming and esports.

Early on 11th June, MrBeast tweeted, “I may or may not be hosting a League of Legends tournament soon,” and sent the community into a frenzy. He added another tweet to the thread and wrote, “Also @Ninja sucks.

MrBeast and League of Legends: A timeline

Creating Beast Gaming in League of Legends

MrBeast, in his 24-hour giveaway stream in 2020, answered a viewer on the question of creating a League of Legends esports team. He said, “Oh yeah, not even thinking, it’s happening. Definitely not this season or the summer split either. But we are definitely going to have a ‘Beast Gaming’ League of Legends Team. One hundred percent.

He also revealed that he closely follows the esports scene of League of Legends and that he watches all the tournaments including the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship.

Likewise, in 2021, MrBeast commented on a tweet talking about him owning an esports organization. He wrote in reply, “I just want a league team, prob won’t be for two years because I have a lot going on atm [at the moment].

MrBeast played League of Legends ranked with Doublelift and tyler1

To everyone’s surprise, MrBeast played League of Legends and tested out the Season 12 preseason along with Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Tyler “tyler1” Steinkamp, two of the most prominent personalities in the League of Legends community. MrBeast was ranked in Gold when he played with the two streamers in November 2021.

Interaction with Bjergsen

On 31st May 2022, MrBeast tagged League of Legends pro and Team Liquid mid-laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg asking for a follow. He wrote, “@Bjergsen mind giving me a quick follow.” The community joked about Bjergsen moving to MrBeast’s new League of Legends team, which has still not come to fruition.

In the past, MrBeast has organized elaborate and larger-than-life events. He has also recreated the sets of Squid Game and the Chocolate Factory of Willy Wonka. Given the fact that MrBeast has all the right resources and contacts to pull off a tournament in gaming, it could very well be a possibility that we might be seeing a League of Legends tournament soon.
