Global Esports VCT 2023 Season Ends Following Pacific LCQ Elimination
Were you expecting more from the South Asian representatives?
Global Esports, the only franchised Valorant team from South Asia, has reached the end of its journey for the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 season. This comes after the team lost the do-or-die match against Team RRQ in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals of the VCT 2023 Pacific Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
There was a lot of promise from Global Esports going into the Pacific LCQ but all of it came to a sudden crash following its first match elimination from the tournament.
Global Esports (GE) is the second team to reach the end of its journey in the current competitive season after DetonatioN FocusMe, who faced an even worse situation by becoming the first franchised team to finish the season without winning a single match across all VCT tournaments.
Team RRQ Eliminates Global Esports From VCT 2023 Pacific LCQ
Both teams knew that the stakes were higher than ever before going into this best-of-three series. The winner would qualifying for the Upper Bracket Semifinals to face ZETA DIVISION while the loser would face direct elimination, resulting in the VCT 2023 journey coming to an end.
Split | Map Pick - Global Esports | Winner: RRQ | Score: 13-10
Starting as attackers, RRQ struck GE hard, stealing the first four rounds in a flurry and then settling down to end the half with a decent 7-5 scoreline.
GE managed to almost catch up with RRQ in the second half, but a string of successful defuses helped them reach map point.
RRQ was held back well for the next three rounds, however, the ray of hope was quickly diminished as they successfully executed their sixth defuse of the half to secure the first map.

Once again starting on defense, GE was better poised this time to hold back the RRQ onslaught, attaining an early lead. Unfortunately, their mistakes were heavily exploited by RRQ who ended up stealing five rounds before GE could regain control and the first half ended with a 6-6 tie.
In the second half, RRQ kept its calm and put up an astute defense to slowly loosen GE's grip on the game. RRQ then snatched the map away from GE to walk away as the winner.
This ended up becoming the final match of Global Esports for the VCT 2023 season having previously competed in two other tournaments - VCT 2023 LOCK//IN São Paulo and VCT 2023 Pacific League.

It will be interesting to see what transpires with Global Esports as an organization during the downtime. Will they scrap this entire lineup and build something new from scratch, shift the roles around for all players to function better as a team, a few player transfers, or simply put in more work by keeping everything as it currently stands?
