King's Canyon was enabled in Apex Legends Season 10 and players were quick to discover a game-breaking bug.
If multiple players attempted to open an explosive hold, it would shut down the lobby and remove players from the game.
Respawn has deployed an emergency fix and all explosive holds in the map are now open by default until a permanent fix is available.

Season 10 of Apex Legends kicked off last week with tons of new content including the new ranked Arenas mode and the controversial legend ‘Seer’. World’s Edge was the only playable map for the first few days of the season but with KIing’s Canyon being added to the rotation earlier this week, players discovered a game breaking bug with Apex Legends’ explosive holds. It turns out that using the holds in a certain way could crash entire lobbies, and Respawn Entertainment had to deploy an emergency fix. Until a fix is deployed, the holds will remain open for all players.

Why were explosive holds disabled in King’s Canyon

According to a Reddit post by u/nellsmelldavedouble, two people trying to use grenades to open an explosive hold at the same time could crash a server and return everyone in the game to the main menu. For those who did not play King’s Canyon’s latest iteration, the map now features mini container-like structures that can be opened with any grenade. Holding the interact key on the explosive hold doors, consumes a Thermite Grenade, Arc Star or Frag Grenade, and it opens up a door to loot inside. Weapon attachments, ammo and multiple weapons are stored inside these explosive holds and can be accessed for some quick upgrades.

The Reddit post quickly caught the attention of Respawn Entertainment and a hotfix was deployed. Currently, all holds are open by default and you do not need to use ordinances to open them.

In addition to the changes to holds, here are some other tweaks that were made as part of the latest patch:

  • Prowler damage reduced from 15 to 14 (per bullet)

  • ADS speed reduced for L-Star

  • L-Star and Prowler prices increased in Arenas

  • Additional bug fixes for Seer, Wattson and Fuse

Respawn Entertainment has also promised a balance pass for Seer in the coming week. The new Season 10 legend is deemed too strong not just by the community, but also by the devs themselves. Respawn gameplay engineer Travis Nordin said during a Reddit AMA, “Seer has launched strong, which was the hope. He's also brought a lot of new gameplay elements to the game which has driven a lot of discussion with players, which is great to see. With that being said (Seer) is probably a bit too strong at the moment and will (receive) some balance updates in an upcoming patch."
