Apex Legends Seer Nerf Incoming for Being “A Bit Too Strong”
Seer nerfs in Apex Legends started being requested as soon as the new legend dropped. It became obvious to both the competitive and casual community that the new Season 10 legend is way too powerful and requires immediate attention from the devs. In a Reddit AMA, Respawn gameplay engineer Travis Nordin talked about Seer nerfs in Apex Legends that are coming very soon. In addition to Apex Legends’ Seer nerts, players have also called for changes to the Prowler and Alternator but Respawn is currently monitoring the power level of the recently tweaked weapons before any changes are finalized.
Why Seer need nerfs in Apex Legends
Seer was launched with Season 10 and he immediately left a lasting impact on the meta. He has a tactical ability that gives you wall hacks, just like Bloodhound, but you also get to see enemy health bars and shield bars. In addition to the ability to scan enemies, you also get to stun them with your tactical and cancel healing item usage or revives. If that is not all, the tactical acts like a flashbang and does 10 damage to all enemies caught in it.
Respawn gameplay engineer Travis Nordin said during the Reddit AMA “Seer has launched strong, which was the hope. He's also brought a lot of new gameplay elements to the game which has driven a lot of discussion with players, which is great to see. With that being said (Seer) is probably a bit too strong at the moment and will (receive) some balance updates in an upcoming patch."
He followed up stating that fans will not have to wait for the mid-season patch to get the changes and tweaks will be made on an immediate basis. The balance team is already working things out and plan to remove the flash effect from Seer’s tactical along with other minor tweaks. Seer nerfs in Apex Legends cannot come soon enough as his presence in the meta has pushed out characters like Bangalore, and his recon capabilities outshine that of Crypto. The developers intend to buff Crypto, Wattson and Bangalore in the future but there is no timeframe available for the changes yet.
Some of the weapons in the current meta including the Prowler SMG and the new Rampage LMG are also potential outliers. The team is looking at the weapon balance for now and no changes are confirmed yet. However, it is something that is on Respawn’s radar and if changes are necessary, they will be made in the upcoming emergency balance patch.
