Did TenZ Just Get Scammed Out of His Butterfly Knife by Riot Games?

Valorant’s new butterfly knife which released as part of the new Recon bundle is one of the sought after cosmetics in the game. It even crashed the in-game store when it launched and it looks like Sentinels’ Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo almost got 'scammed' by Riot Games. He attempted to get the skin recently and despite paying for the skin, he did not receive it. He checked multiple times, and he was unable to find it. He joked that he got scammed by Riot Games but that was of course, not the case. The game was facing issues possibly due to the high amount of activity in the Valorant in-game store and purchases were not going through.

Riot Games will issue refunds to all players affected

TenZ and anyone else who was affected by the recent in-game store issues, will be refunded their VP/RP. Riot Games had temporarily disabled all in-game purchases on 26th August and restored all store functionality shortly after.

Riot Games’ skin designs for Valorant are unique but the Recon skin lineup is unique as it shares aesthetics with other popular FPS titles. Valorant Art Lead, Sean Marino, revealed that the new cosmetic “was one of the more highly anticipated skins we were developing due to the fact that it has a butterfly knife. We always knew that this would be a thing we would give players and it was really incredible to see it all come together with this skin.”

He talked about how Riot Games had the goal of the base guns being as realistic as possible and with the Recon lineup, the game wanted to dive into the experience that players from games like PUBG and Rainbow Six: Siege get. The gun skins look fully kitted with attachments, and players have the option to purchase the entire bundle for 7,100 VP ($80 USD). If you want just the butterfly knife, you will need to spend 3,550 VP ($40 USD).
