Apex Legends Season 14 will see some meta shifts for both weapons and legends.
Newcastle, Valkyrie and recon legends will all be receiving changes in the upcoming season.

Apex Legends Season 14 is not only set to bring in a new Legend to the game’s roster but will also bring some changes to weapons, items and even Legends. The upcoming changes will likely shake up the meta significantly. Newcastle and other recon characters are likely to get a buff this season with Valkyrie getting nerfed. Let’s look at some of the Legends and changes coming to Apex Legends in Season 14 Hunted.

Apex Legends Season 14: Legend updates

According to pro player HisWattson, Newcastle’s movement speed when his shield is deployed will be increased. Newcastle is already a fortified character, given a lower movement speed compared to other legends, and his shield slowed him down even further. This will be a much needed buff for Newcastle since he currently has the lowest pick rate of any legend.

Valkyrie is currently one of the most popular picks among both players and pros. The Valkyrie, Gibraltar and Caustic trio was extremely popular in the Apex Legends Global Series: 2022 Championship. Valkyrie’s rotation potential combined with Caustic’s area control and Gibraltar’s defensive capabilities outclassed every other comp by a whopping 33%. Following its popularity in the ALGS, TSM FTX DUNC tweeted out saying Apex needs to do something to shift the meta.

Senior Producer on Apex Legends, Josh Medina responded saying they were working on it. HisWattson confirmed in his stream that Valkyrie was being switched over from a recon character to an assault character. This means she’ll no longer be able to scan a beacon and just use her ultimate to take her whole team towards the next zone.

Another major change incoming is that recon characters will be able to do a map room scan with beacons. Map room scans can reveals the position of all enemy squads on a map and tags them. It was first available in Crypto’s Map Room on Kings Canyon as part of the Crypto’s Town Takeover.
