Edit: Evil Geniuses have confirmed that it was a brand revamp.
Evil Geniuses’ players and the team have been hyping up something that is going to be unveiled later today, for quite a while now. The NA team’s social media has posted teaser videos on their social media accounts which just shows a glitchy Evil Geniuses logo which eventually disappears.
The players of the NA team have also taken part in this, with all their CS:GO, Dota 2 and Rainbow 6 players making their profile pictures black. So what could this announcement be? We have some theories which we’re gonna list with the increasing probability.
Highly Unlikely, Almost Impossible
Lockdown induced roster shuffle:
Because of the current situation across the world, Evil Geniuses’ lineup has been completely split up. Ramzes666 and Abed have both been unable to compete with the NA team in online leagues because they’re stuck in their home countries. Even Cr1t has to play with increased latency since he has to connect to the NA servers from Europe. So maybe we can see a roster shuffle?
In all probability, no. Replacing players of the calibre of Abed and Ramzes666 is no mean feat and in all likelihood, will be a big downgrade. Considering the fact that no LANs are going to take place in the immediate future, EG will not be rushed to make a roster change.
Quite Unlikely
A Secondary Roster:
Over the last few months, a number of teams like OG, PSG.LGD and Virtus.Pro have picked up secondary rosters (OG.Seed, LGD.Int, VP.Prodigy). Most of them have been successful endeavours in online leagues and hence increasing brand exposure. The North American scene has not seen any such team, just yet. So Evil Geniuses have a prime opportunity to pick up one of the aspiring teams like 4 Zoomers or Demon Slayers.
The problem with this theory is that the CS:GO and Rainbow Six Seige rosters would likely not be involved if this was the case. If they’re and this is the angle that EG is going for, then the NA organization will have to announce that they’re signing three new secondary squads in 3 different games, which is just ludicrous.
The Most Likely
Logo Revamp:
Evil Geniuses old logo was one of the most iconic figures in esports. The insignia had so much history behind it and was a classic. So when EG decided to downgrade their logo during their revamp, fans were pissed.
In fact, former EG CEO Alexander Garfield also tweeted his displeasure at the redesign and lamented his decision to sell the organization back in 2014, blasting the current management for trying to let go of EG’s legacy.

In fact, the backlash was so bad that Phillip Aram, Chief Gaming Officer at EG, announced that the old logo will be ”tinkered” and would make a comeback later.
So, considering the fact that all of Evil Geniuses players are involved and the vanishing logo in EG’s teaser, this is the most likely possibility.
