Here is all you need to know about what platforms Escape From Tarkov is available on.

Escape From Tarkov is a hardcore shooter which has gained popularity since its release in August 2016. The game is set in the fictional, war-torn, Norvinsk region. The game involves a lot of complicated mechanics including resource management, realistic gun mods and complete missions, getting loot and kills along the way. The game is still in beta and is constantly being updated to add new locations, new quests and more. Let’s look at the platforms on which Escape From Tarkov is available.

Escape From Tarkov platforms

Escape From Tarkov is currently only available to play on the PC. It needs a Windows operating system to run. While eager fans have modded the game to run on other systems like the MacOS, there is no official support for the game on those operating systems. The game can only be purchased and accessed through developer Battlestate Games’ website and game client. There are different versions of the game available for purchase with exclusive rewards with each version.

Is Escape from Tarkov available on Steam?

The game is currently not available on Steam or other PC platforms like the Epic Games Store. The game has to be downloaded through its own launcher. Click here to go to their website and register/ login with an account. Once you make an account and buy the game, go for your profile page and click the “install” button located at the bottom of the page.

The game's developer Battlestate Games has said in the past that they have plans of bringing it to Steam eventually. In an interview with Wccftech in 2016, former programmer at Battlestate Games Pavel Dyatlov said that they do have plans to launch the game on Steam, “We will first release the game on our platform and then we will launch on Steam, that’s the plan.” In the same interview, Dyatlov also mentioned that they had plans to bring the game to consoles.

This was confirmed again, by Battlestate Games COO Nikita Buyanov in an interview with GameSpot. Buyanov said the game would support modding after its release on Steam. Battlestate would “provide assets and guidelines for creation of derivative works; if all the requirements are observed, we will clear these creations for addition to the game, but that's about it. Since it's an online game, we can't allow completely uncontrolled modding.”

Will Escape From Tarkov come to consoles?

The game’s developer has said they are interested in bringing Escape From Tarkov to consoles. However, there is no definitive timeline for the same.

Escape From Tarkov Arena platforms

Escape From Tarkov Arena is a new spinoff game set in the Tarkov universe which takes the existing gameplay and modifies it to the traditional multiplayer FPS experience. Like the base game, Arena will also only be available on Windows PCs at launch. It is still unclear if Battlestate has plans to bring the spin-off to consoles.
