The Minecraft Mob Vote is an event in the Minecraft community. Despite being over a decade old, the game is still evolving, with the developer, Mojang Studios, adding new mobs and mechanics regularly. Once a year, Mojang Studios directly involves the Minecraft community in the decision to add a new mob to the game through the Mob Vote. Here is all you need to know about the Minecraft Mob Vote.
How does the Minecraft Mob Vote work?
The Minecraft Mob Vote sees the developer Mojang Studios present three potential new mobs with unique traits and design to be added to Minecraft. The polls will be open for a certain duration and the community then votes for their favorite mob, eliminating two of the three. Once the decision is made, Mojang Studios adds the mob to the game in the next major game update.
The Mob Vote has led to the addition of the Phantom, Glow Squid, Allay to the game. The most recent mob vote was won by the Sniffer, an ancient gentle giant who sniffs out seeds. The Sniffer beat out the Rascal and the Tuff Golem in the mob vote. The winner of the Minecraft Live 2022 Mob Vote will make its debut in Minecraft update 1.20 along with camels, bamboo wood, hanging signs, chiseled bookshelves and rafts. The mob vote also ends up adding other peripheral elements to the game. For example, with the Sniffer, Minecraft update 1.20 is also likely to feature new plants for players to farm.
How to participate in the Minecraft Mob Vote?
Players can participate in the Mob Vote through the developer’s official website for the game, Minecraft.net. Mojang had also set up a special, carnival-themed Minecraft Bedrock edition server for the latest mob vote. Players needed to own Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 1.19.31 to vote for their favorite mob.
