Sniffers can be hatched via Sniffer eggs from underwater or underground areas.

The Sniffer is the official winner of the Minecraft Live 2022 Mob Community Vote and it will be added to the game in the future. Currently, we have very little information about the mob but developers have been dropping sneak peeks at the mob which should be added to the game sometime this year. Here is everything we know about the Sniffer in Minecraft.

Sniffers in Minecraft: Everything we know so far

The developers at Mojang have revealed that the Sniffer is an ancient mob that was thought to be extinct. Players will need to revive Sniffers by finding their eggs in underground or underwater areas.

Sniffers are fictional dinosaurs and once they are hatched, they can sniff the ground and find plants and seeds for players to dig up. The devs have hinted that the sniffers will allow players to find new types of plants so if you love exploring and unlocking every possible item in the game, you should definitely keep an eye out for the Sniffers’ launch in Minecraft.

The Rascal and Tuff Golem were also in contention to be added to the game as part of the Minecraft 2022 Mob Community event but the Sniffer had around 55% of the votes.

Until now, fans had only seen a pixelated version of the Sniffer but as we get closer to its release date, the game designers are showing us what seems to be the final version of the mob which is much cuter than what was initially shown.

When will Sniffers be added to Minecraft?

There is no official word on when Sniffers will be added to Minecraft. 1.20 is this year’s major content update and the patch might include new mobs and plants for 2023. Sniffers can be useful animals to tame as the ability to scout out rare plants is something that is not very common in the game. In case your favorite mobs didn’t win at the Community Vote, there will be a fresh round of votes that take place later this year for new mobs.
