What Is the Black Keycard in Escape From Tarkov? How to Use It?

The Black Keycard or the TerraGroup Labs keycard, as the name suggests, is a keycard in Escape from Tarkov. Keys and keycards, along with maps and other usable items, are part of intel items in the game that help players get ahead of their competition and understand where exactly they are on Tarkov. Notably, keycards with a limited number of uses have their remaining uses or durability displayed in the bottom right of their icon and on their inspection view. A total of eight keycards can be found in The Lab, the sixth location that was added to Escape from Tarkov.

Black Keycard: Guide

The description of the Black Keycard reads, “A United Security-issued TerraGroup Labs top-level administration keycard” and it is used to complete the Following the Bread Crumbs quest given by trader Farit Akhmadullovich Genatulin aka "Lightkeeper."  An interesting trivia about the Black Keycard is that it has the serial number 0010160023 452816 etched on it.

Here are the spawn locations of the Black Keycard in The Lab:

• In the laboratory block (G22), sitting next to a computer workstation and you need a TerraGroup Labs keycard (Green) for entry

• In Room O22, in front of the telephone on the desk with the computer, across from the toxic waste spill which is covered by a large orange dome

• In O11 on the large table of scientific supplies

Some of the other locations where you can find the Black Keycard are:

• The pockets and bags of Scavs

• On Cultist priest's body

• Tagilla's body (Factory)

• Reshala's body (Customs)

• Shturman's body (Woods)

• Glukhar's body (Reserve)

• Killa's body (Interchange)

• Sanitar's body (Shoreline)

You can trade the following items with trader Sergey Arsenyevich Samoylov, also known by his alias Mechanic to get one Black Keycard as well:

• 6-STEN-140-M military battery x5

• Cyclon rechargeable battery x8

• UHF RFID Reader x2

• Secured magnetic tape cassette x1

When you finally have the Black keycard, you can access the lock in the Lab. It is situated on the first level in The Lab and it is the Laboratory experiment's area (G12).
