Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Masters Tokyo is currently underway with eight teams battling it out in the playoffs. The teams are fighting for glory, bragging rights along with a massive total prize pool of $1 Million USD. The playoffs stage commenced on 16th June and is set to conclude on 25th June, with the best-of-five (BO5) grand finals. This tournament is high stakes since the winner grants its region an extra slot for Valorant Champions 2023 from the respective Last Chance Qualifier.

However, there is more to the event than just these playoff matches. On 17th June, Riot Games announced that this Masters will also feature a showmatch, showcasing the newest Valorant game mode: Team Deathmatch.

VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo Team Deathmatch Showmatch Explained

Riot Games announced, “Valorant Masters Tokyo Grand Finals is heating up with a special showmatch! Come watch fan-favorite content creators from around the world team up to take on Valorant’s new high-octane game mode: Team Deathmatch.

Notably, Team Deathmatch (TDM) will be available for play as part of the Episode 7 update. It will remain a permanent game mode. The game mode will feature three new custom maps particularly designed for this mode. They are as follows:

  • District: A map with a long sniper alley to one side and a horseshoe-shaped building on the other side that can be used to control mid.

  • Piazza: A map with a relatively open mid overlooked by sniper nests, each nest can be flanked by huts on either side.

  • Kasbah: An arena-style map with many connections to the middle of the map, which holds most of the resources.

Team Deathmatch is a 5v5 team-based deathmatch mode and players will progress through four stages of progressively deadlier combat, each with a unique loadout of weapons. Players will be able to use abilities and also pick up Recovery Orb and Weapon Spawners. The first team to 100 kills, or the highest score at the end of 10 minutes will be declared the victors.
