The first splits of the 2023 season are underway across multiple League of Legends regions.
Here’s all you need to know about LoL Esports drops in 2023.

Riot Games and League of Legends Esports (LoL Esports) noted at the start of 2023 that they will be working hard to add more exciting features and rewards to drops. These include reaction drops that highlight cool moments that happen live in-game including new emotes and icons. Riot Games stated that these rewards shall be released in waves throughout the 2023 competitive calendar and additional types of rewards shall be released during the year when made available. Currently, the first season of 2023 across multiple regions, including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), North America (NA), South Korea, and China, is underway and the company has been enabling drops.

The 2023 drops for this season started with the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) and now we have new updates about the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) drops. Here’s everything you need to know about LoL Esports Drops 2023.

LoL Esports Drops 2023: All you need to know

Drops officially began this year with the LCS on 26th January. Riot Games stated that the other regions will follow shortly after. The ways, frequency, and rewards from drops may differ depending on the league and certain rules and regulations in each country or region, the publisher noted.

Earlier on 23rd January, LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov tweeted, “We saw you ask how come the drops for LEC on http://lolesports.com are not yet active. Our plan is to activate them later in the Splits, tentatively around the playoffs. We will publish a drops FAQ ahead of time to make sure you are not missing out. Stay tuned!

However, there was no official word on the LoL Esports drops from the LEC despite the LEC 2023 Winter Playoffs kicking off on 20th February. Interestingly though, Youtuber Matty Love Gaming posted a video to alert the community that there were drops enabled for the LEC Playoffs on the LoL Esports website.

In his video titled “URGENT: free hextech chests today”, he said, “It is confirmed that the LEC Playoffs are doing Hextech Chest drops. There have been some already for the game [G2 Esports vs KOI] that’s on right now… There are three more matches next weekend. There should be Chest drops happening throughout playoffs.

Matty Love Gaming noted that you could either get Hextech Chests or Capsules from the drops on the website but the drops could be completely random. So those who are excited to get their hands on the LoL Esports drops should keep an eye out for the remaining playoff matches in the LEC. Notably, SK Gaming is taking on MAD Lions on 24th February in the first round of playoffs.

However, you need to be logged in on LoLEsports.com with your Riot ID. Once logged in, you will have the opportunity to get a drop when it happens. Note that LoL Esports drops are random and can happen at any time of the day. They are connected to certain moments of the tournament. For example:

  • Pentakill: Drop has a higher chance of happening

  • Stolen objective: A drop might happen, but isn’t guaranteed

  • Other moments: A drop might happen, but isn’t guaranteed
