Double Kills Not Counting in Modern Warfare 2: How to Fix

The concept of double kills in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) is as straightforward as the name suggests. Double kills in Modern Warfare 2 can be achieved when players get two kills consecutively within three seconds of each other. Even if the second kill that you get is a fraction of a second too late, it will not count as a double kill. Once you get the second kill in that perfect time frame, you will be rewarded with 110 XP and a double kill notification will flash on the screen.

Time and again, Modern Warfare 2 players run into the issue where double kills do not count in their tracked progress bars for specific MW2 weapons and their respective challenges. Also, it is important to note that your progress is safe and it is just that the progress does not reflect properly. Here’s how you fix the double kills bug in MW2. 

On the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, one user posted, “Double kills challenge is bugged on many guns, doesn't count.” Replying to this, another Redditor said, “They are bugged in the menu but they are still counting. My doubles never moved from 0 yesterday on the Lachman 556 but after getting 10 the camo [was] still unlocked. It's an annoying bug, but just keep grinding away because it is still counting your progress.”

Since this double kill count problem is mainly related to a visual glitch, the best thing to do is to simply restart Modern Warfare 2 and load right back in. This should fix the issue easily. However, this is not a guaranteed fix since a handful of players have reported that the issue continued despite restarting the game.
