Apex Legends' level cap may be increased in an upcoming update according to leaks by community member Garret.
A major update is expected with cross-progression and cross-save as well as the level cap increase by the end of this year.
Respawn had officially confirmed that the next-gen update will be out by 2021 but there have been no official updates from the developer team since Season 10.

Apex Legends’ account levels were raised in December 2020 and most players who have been playing since year one have already hit the max cap. With the year coming to a close, Respawn is reportedly working on yet another annual update which will include a level cap increase. The developers have also promised a next-gen upgrade with graphical improvements and an FPS (Frames Per Second) bump for new consoles. In addition to all of the above changes, cross-save is also in the works, which will allow you to transfer your account’s skins and other items to any platform seamlessly.

When will Apex Legends’ level cap be increased?

According to prominent leaker ‘Garret’, Apex Legends’ next-gen update should arrive very soon. The devs had promised the next-gen update by 2021 but with the game being bombarded by DDOS attacks along with server issues worsening with each update, things seem to have been delayed.

We may not get another annual update this year in December 2021 with the supposed level cap increase and next-gen updates but it is still a possibility. Respawn’s Director of Communications Ryan K. Rigney revealed in Season 10’s Q&A session that the update is indeed in the works. Garret stated in his video that the holiday season is around the corner and it would make sense for Respawn to push out the update by the end of this year as a lot of people would be purchasing the new consoles around Black Friday and Christmas.

The level cap is expected to be increased to 1000, up from 500 which is the current cap. Last year, Respawn also re-adjusted the number of Apex packs you get. If the devs do the same thing this year, players who are already at level 500 may get bonus packs. It is also likely that the frequency of packs will be lower from level 500 to 1000 considering the number of packs per 10 levels keeps dropping from 1 to 500.

What else is included in the annual update

Cross-progression is currently available only on Steam and Origin. Respawn is working on bringing cross-progression for non-PC platforms too as part of the next-gen update. Once cross-progression goes live, players will be able to sign into any platform with their existing EA accounts and have all their progress carry over. It is likely that rank will not carry over but all in-game items, badges, and account data will be transferable at any time.

The next-gen update for Xbox Series S/X and PS5 will increase the framerates and we can expect graphical improvements as well. All of the changes were promised by the end of 2021 and with just one month to go, it remains to be seen if Respawn delivers on its promise before the holiday season ends.
