Highlights
By fielding Zaun champions, players are able to add chem mods to the Zaun units for more stats.
Here’s all you need to know about the Zaun trait, the champions, the chem mods, and other details in TFT Set 9 Runeterra Reforged.

Runeterra Reforged is the 9th set for Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and it brings forth exciting new champions, traits, and augments. There are many options for players to choose from and build their team compositions (comps). Zaun is one among the many origin traits that are featured in TFT Set 9 Runeterra Reforged. This trait has an interesting twist in the auto-battler by Riot Games. It gives players the option to mod the Zaunite champions using Chemtech items (chem mods) that drop.

Here’s how the trait of Zaun works in TFT, along with the mods it offers in Set 9.

Set 9 Runeterra Reforged Zaun: Trait bonus, Champions & Augments

Let us first take a closer look at the Zaun trait in TFT Set 9.

Zaun: Zaun champions create random chem mods that only they can use. Champions can be modded once, and mods can only be removed by selling the champion. Note that you cannot use the chem mods on random champions. Either they must be from Zaun or they should have the Zaun heart emblem for you to mod them.

  • 2 Zaun: Gain 1 chem-mod

  • 4 Zaun: Gain 2 chem-mods

  • 6 Zaun: Gain 3 chem-mods and overcharge them

Currently, the Zaunite champions in TFT Set 9 Runterra Reforged are:

  • Warwick

  • Jinx

  • Ekko

  • Urgot

  • Zeri

Some of the Augments that synergize with the Zaun trait and its many chem mods in TFT Set 9 are Zaun Heart, Zaun Crest, Zaun Crown, and Chemtech Enhancements. Of these, the Chemtech Enhancements Augments is the strongest one.

By selecting this Augment, your units with Zaun's chem mods gain 500 Health. Allies that start combat adjacent to them gain 100 Health. Additionally, you also gain 2 Zaun units.

All the Zaun Chem Mods in TFT Set 9

In total, there are six chem mods in Teamfight Tactics. Notably, not all of them can be used on certain champions. For example, using a tanky chem mod on a carry like Jinx or Zeri might not be a good option.

A chem mod is added at each breakpoint (2,4,6), allowing players to have up to three chem mods on their team. However, the Overcharge ability is activated only when there are six Zaun champions.

Here are the chem mods:

1. Adaptive Implant

While above 50% Health, gain 25% Attack Damage and Ability Power. While below, gain 25% Omnivamp.

Overcharge: Always gain both effects, and their power is increased by 100%.

2. Hextech Skeleton

Gain 33 Armor and Magic Resistance. Every 5 seconds, cleanse all negative effects and heal for 10% maximum Health.

Overcharge: Each time the holder heals, deal 150% of the heal amount as magic damage to adjacent enemies.

3. Virulent Bioware

Release a virulent plague whenever you deal Ability damage, causing enemies within 1 hex of the target to take 25% more damage for 4 seconds.

Overcharge: Plague duration is 10 seconds and plague deals 5% maximum. Health magic damage per second.

4. Shimmer Injector

Gain 25% Attack Speed. The first time you would be reduced to 1 Health, increase the Attack Speed bonus by 100% and heal for 35% maximum Health.

Overcharge: Instead increase the Attack Speed bonus by 400% and heal for 100% maximum Health.

5. Unstable Chemtech

Gain 33% maximum Health and explode on death, dealing 30% of your maximum Health as magic damage to enemies within 2 hexes.

Overcharge: Explosion deals 45% of your maximum Health as magic damage to enemies within 3 hexes instead.

6. Robotic Arm

Attacks have a 33% chance to trigger 1 additional attack

Overcharge: Attacks deal 40% Attack Damage as bonus true damage.
