Apex Legends has multiple icons that can help you identify problems with your connectivity. You might notice one or more icons during your playtime and if you don’t know what each of these symbols means, we are here to help. Do note that some of these issues may be caused due to issues with the game servers themselves and may not have a fix. Here is a quick rundown of all Apex Legends connection symbols and errors to help you troubleshoot any connectivity problems.
All Apex Legends Connection Symbols
These four symbols are the most common when you play Apex Legends.
Latency
This indicates that you have high ping. This could be caused by playing on a server that is far from your location or you may run into the issue if you have poor network routing. The latency icon normally does not show up if there are server-side issues.
Packet loss
We have an in-depth guide on how to fix packet loss in Apex Legends that we recommend you check out. There are too many variables that can cause packet loss but it is something that can be fixed.
Congestion
Congestion is a server-side issue and it is something that you cannot fix. If you keep facing the issue, we recommend changing the server or playing later as it is up to Respawn to fix the issue if the game is facing connectivity issues.
Prediction Error
Prediction errors are also caused at the server end so you will not be able to do anything about the issue.
The following are Apex Legends lag/connection codes that were added in 2022:
UCMD Delay (Input Lag)
UCMD Delay indicates that there is input lag between the player entering their command and it being executed in-game. There are several causes of Input Lag and it can be hard to detect them. We recommend using wired peripherals to reduce the odds of input lag.
Lag Compensation Error
A Lag Compensation error refers to the server using a player's latency to rewind time when processing a user command, thus replicating the situation that existed when the player entered their command.
Data Error
A Data Error is represented by the above symbol, which features a large microphone. It means that your game is having difficulty processing related data, and as a result, your game's connection is suffering.
Starvation
Starvation is represented by the above symbol of a blank clock next to a microphone. In computing, this is a situation in which a process cannot be completed because the required resources are not available.
Issue Marker
The symbol signifies an Issue Marker. Unfortunately, this is another that doesn’t appear to have a known cause or fix.
Limits
The symbol is likely indicative of your internet hitting its capacity and struggling to carry out the in-game action required.
