Mending
Mending is considered to be one of the best enchantments in Minecraft. Whenever you gain experience points, your fishing rod will be automatically repaired by consuming some of your experience. If you successfully catch a fish you automatically get some XP so you can fish perpetually without worrying about grinding XP like you would with other tools.
Luck of the Sea
Luck of the Sea improves your chances of getting treasure with fishing rods in Minecraft. The enchantment works by increasing your chances of obtaining a treasure by 2% per level. It also decreases the chance of catching junk by 2% per level and decreases the chance of catching fish by around 0.15% per level. If you are looking for treasure, this enchantment is your best bet.
Lure
While Luck of the Sea is designed to help you get more treasures, Lure helps you get more fish. You have a lower wait time when using Lure so you get to reel in fish more frequently. However, the enchantment does not increase the likelihood of getting fish so it is more of an efficiency enchantment than a drop rate enchantment.
Unbreaking
Unbreaking increases the lifespan of your fishing rod and it can be a very useful enchantment to have. However, we recommend going for Mending instead if you have the resources.
Curse of Vanishing
Curse of Vanishing causes the enchanted items with the curse to disappear upon a player’s death. It can be a fun thing to use against friends but it serves no practical purpose for fishing rods.
