With the Major slowly approaching, many were wondering if Valve would release a major update prior to the Lima Major.
However, Valve announced that Patch 7.33 will only be released a day after the conclusion of the Lima Major.
Patch 7.33 is expected to provide major hero balancing as well as the long awaited release of Muerta.

The publisher of Dota 2, Valve, has officially announced the release date of the next upcoming major patch, Patch 7.33. With the Lima Major expected to begin tomorrow, many were anxiously awaiting the long awaited release of the next major patch as Patch 7.32 is expected to to become one of the longest major patches in the game’s history.

However, teams attending the Major can breathe a sigh of relief as they do not have to craft new strategies in a short amount of time.

“Lina Major” proceeds as Patch 7.33 is expected to be released after Lima Major

In a blog post dedicated to the upcoming Lima Major in Peru, Valve announced that it will provide a discount for Supporters Club and make slight changes to the fantasy system. However, Valve also announced that it will be releasing the next major patch, Patch 7.33 a day after the Lima Major, which would be 6th March.

“Once the Major Champions have been crowned and the Tour comes to a close, we look forward to unveiling our next update on March 6th”, Valve announced in its blog post.

Many within the community had voiced their opinions about the release of the next major patch in the last couple of months, as the majority wanted the patch to be released before the Major while others such as BetBoom Team’s Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek believed that the patch should be released after the Major.

While many were dubbing the Major as the “Lina Major”, due to the hero Lina being meta currently, the teams attending the upcoming Major will be able to retain their strategies and avoid last minute changes following the release date announcement.

With the date of the patch release now publicly known, many will be expecting Icefrog to provide major balancing to heroes such as Lina while also providing new neutral items as well as possible reworked abilities for certain heroes’ Aghanim's Scepter upgrade.

Additionally, Patch 7.33 is expected to include the game’s newest hero Muerta, who was previously revealed at The International 2022 (TI11). Muerta was expected to release in early 2023, which meant that the upcoming patch release fits in perfectly.
