TI10 Main Event Day Four: OG, T1, and Virtus.Pro Eliminated, Team Spirit Goes on Dream Run
The fourth day of The International 10 Main Event had three series from the Lower Bracket. It started with the underdogs, Team Spirit going head-to-head against the defending champions, OG. After what seemed to be an ‘ez game’ for the Russian squad, OG was eliminated from TI10 and so did their hopes of fulfilling a three-peat. T1 had an intense matchup against the Chinese team, Vici Gaming but they were eventually defeated 2-1. Probably the hypest set of matches happened in the last series of the day between Team Spirit and Virtus.Pro which saw VP exit the tournament after the former went berserk. Here are the full highlights of Day 4 of TI10 Main Event.
TI10 Main Event Day 4 recap and highlights
A Horn Toss Party shuts down OG’s Three-peat
In the first game, Team Spirit secured many valuable kills across the map, however, OG managed to secure a significant net worth lead. What seemed like a balanced early phase was quickly flipped when OG attempted a high ground push. Collapse on his Magnus pulled off some amazing plays that managed to turn the tides of the game. Team Spirit went on a Horn Toss spree in the final phases of the game as they ripped apart OG’s lineup to force them to surrender.
The second game was another beautiful game by Spirit as they completely outplayed their opponent right from the get go. After a massive teamfight victory in favor of Team Spirit, TORONTOTOKYO even all-chatted ‘ez game’. OG couldn’t answer the powerful teamfights Spirit brought and ultimately, OG’s Ancient was destroyed.
This marks the end of an era as OG, the defending champions of TI8 and TI9, settle at 7th-8th placing at TI10.
Vici Gaming eliminates the final SEA team, T1 out of TI10
T1 had an amazing first game of the series, completely dominating Vici Gaming. Karl had a spectacular performance on his Lina and after a multitude of bloodbaths, T1 ended the game at the 41-minute mark. However, Vici proved that it always has to be feared when it has its back against the wall. The second game saw the Chinese team falling behind in terms of kills, but thanks to their patience and decision-making, they managed to turn and end the game in its favor.
In the deciding match, Vici did not hold back. By the 26-minute mark, all of its squad was marching on top of T1’s high ground. With painful right-clicks from Shadow Fiend, T1’s towers were melting, and eventually, T1 was forced to concede the series.
Team Spirit defeated its CIS rival, Virtus.Pro
Team Spirit had quite an even first game against the CIS titan, VP. However, with the right Ravage executions and Monkey King's Wukong's Command, they managed to close the game in their favor. Game two saw a wild Viper on VP's side and magnificent saves from Spirit. However, eventually, VP came out on top ending the game in 46 minutes and levelled the series 1-1.
The deciding match featured a Tiny on Spirit's side and a Luna on the opposing team as the primary cores. However, it was TORONTOTOKYO who took control of the game going wild on his Lina, constantly being a nuisance to VP, outputting immense right-click damage. The lengthy game ended with Spirit outplaying the CIS kings, sending them home to secure a Top 4 finish at the tournament.
