During a recent livestream, Tundra Esports' captain Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun provided an update on Dota 2’s future patch.
The International 2022 (TI11) winner revealed that he spoke to a few representatives from Valve after winning the tournament.
It is expected that the next patch, Patch 7.33, will be released after the conclusion of the TI11 Battle Pass in early January or in February.

While the off-season is rife with transfer announcements and rumors, others tend to provide insider information regarding Dota 2 updates. During a recent livestream, Tundra Esports’ captain Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun provided the community with an update regarding the upcoming patch as he was able to contact representatives from Valve after winning The International 2022 (TI11).

The Dota 2 development team tends to release a major update every five to six months. The most recent update, Patch 7.32, was released in August 2022.

“Probably not for a while” - Sneyking provides update on Patch 7.33

During a recent livestream, a viewer asked Sneyking if he had any information regarding the upcoming gameplay patch. Sneyking responded by saying that it could take some time for the developers to release the next major patch.

“When will the new patch be released? Probably not for a while.” said Sneyking.

The Tundra Esports captain later explained that he and the team managed to hold talks with a few representatives from Valve after winning The International 2022 (TI11). This was when the team asked the representatives about the future updates for the game. However, the representatives noted that the developers wanted the community to play on the current patch for a while following the conclusion of TI11 and the recent release of the Diretide game mode.

“This came from Valve directly. We asked them about the patch after we won TI11 directly because we’re f***ing nerds. And then, they said that they’re going to wait for a bit before releasing the next major patch because they wanted the community to play on the same patch for a while and watch them try to replicate some of the stuff that they have seen at TI11, like playing the same strategies as us or play some of the heroes that we played on the main stage.”

He then ended the topic by saying that the current patch will be around for quite some time.

Dota 2’s current patch, Patch 7.32 was released back in late August in the middle of ESL One Genting 2022. Following the conclusion of TI11 many within the community were expecting a new major update as the meta was favoring players with decent micro skills and massive usage of the item “Wraith Pact”.

However, it is expected that the next major patch will be released next year in either January or February as the Dota 2 development team tends to release a major update to the game every five to six months. Additionally, the next major update shall see the long awaited release of Muerta, the new hero which was revealed at TI11.
