As per tradition, Valve has finally revealed a new hero at The International 2022 (TI11)
The new hero is named Muerta and wields a gun, according to the teaser.
The hero could also be a hero with Latin American roots since "Muerta" means the feminine form of Death in Spanish.

The International 2022 (TI11) finally has its first big surprise reveal. Valve revealed the next upcoming hero with a teaser just before The Grand FInals of TI11. The hero is named 'Muerta' and will be making her debut in early 2023, according to Valve's teasers.

This indicates that we will not be able to see the hero make its way into the game until after the first major patch following the first tour of the 2022-23 Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) season.

Muerta means the feminine form of death in Spanish, indicating that this hero may be one of the wraith heroes in Dota 2.

New Dota 2 Hero Muerta teased at TI11

In a teaser, showcased by Valve after the Ability Draft showmatch, we saw Muerta make her first appearance.

"I have suffered the atrocities of the living and followed the trails of the damned," she says in the teaser. "On both sides of the spirit veil, they whisper my name, and fear me far more than death," she adds before transforming into a wraith.

The description of her reveal also reads, "An enduring revenant reveals herself with promises of a ruinous reckoning to follow. Pierce the veil between the living and the damned as a new hero — Muerta — arrives to haunt the lanes in early 2023."

This also indicates that the new hero Muerta could probably have some lore connections with other 'wraith-like' heroes like Death Prophet or Wraith King.

Following the announcement, the crowd at TI11 went wild with excitement. Unfortunately, they will have to wait until early 2023 to get their hands on the new hero.

The newest hero that made its way into the game before Muerta was Primal Beast in February 2022. All 123 heroes are available in all modes, including the competitive Captain's Mode.
