In a recent Twitch stream that brought together some of the most recognizable names in the Eastern European (EEU) Dota 2 community, Tundra Esports carry Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko shared some candid insights into the psyche of his former teammate, Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko. The revelation came during a casual viewing session of the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai group stages, where Pure and the streamer Aleksandr "Nix" Levin were watching the BetBoom Team vs Team Spirit series unfold.
Pure Says Nightfall Lacks Trust in People
During the stream, Pure opened up about Nightfall's unique personality traits that set him apart, sometimes contentiously, from his peers. “What does Egor (Nightfall) lack? Egor is just very strange in himself. He lacks some kind of trust in people, to agree with others' opinions. I'm not just talking about myself, but overall. He's pretty strange himself.”
Nightfall has been a figure of controversy in the recent past, particularly noted in December 2023 for his regular engagement in smurfing—a practice frowned upon and actively combated by Valve. This behavior attracted criticism from notable Dota 2 streamers Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski and Max "qojqva" Bröcker, who openly ridiculed Nightfall's actions and called for a ban.
Interestingly, in an earlier stream from September 2023, Gorgc also called him “Russian EternalEnvy” due to his tendency to micromanage and talk a lot in games.
Despite the off-field controversies, Nightfall and the BetBoom Team are currently navigating through the challenges of the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. With a mixed record of 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss, the team is at a critical juncture, balancing on the edge of potential elimination and progression. Their performance has been a rollercoaster, starting with a defeat to Xtreme Gaming, a surprising victory over OG, and a hard-fought draw against Team Spirit.
Looking ahead, BetBoom Team has crucial matches lined up against nouns and Azure Ray, the latter being the victors of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. These games are pivotal in determining whether the team can secure its position and advance in the tournament.
