IHC Esports Disconnects And Loses After Power Outage in BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 Qualifiers
The BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai SEA [Southeast Asia] and CN [China] closed qualifier is underway. During the lower bracket final series of the closed qualifier against Geek Fam, Mongolian esports organization IHC Esports abruptly disconnected from Game 2 when it was playing the Predator League facility in Manila, Philippines. One of IHC's players claimed that Acer turned off electricity when the team was playing. Since IHC Esports could not rejoin on time, Geek Fam pushed through the mid-lane and ended the game, thus making it to the grand finals after a 2-0 series.
Electricity Outage During the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Closed Qualifier Proves Costly for IHC
On 10th January, during the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai SEA and CN closed qualifiers, IHC Esports suffered an inconvenience that cost the team a chance at qualifying for the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai main tournament. After a hard fought loss in Game 1 against Geek Fam, IHC Esports was looking to make a comeback in the second game. However, unfortunately, it faced a power outage before the first minute of Game 2.
Following IHC Esports’ disconnection, Geek Fam initiated a pause on behalf of IHC. The game was paused for 10 minutes and after the end of the 10th minute, Geek Fam had two options: To either pause the game again using their own pause time or unpause and continue.
Geek Fam chose to unpause and push the mid-lane with all five heroes. It ended the game in just 8 minutes and 48 seconds, qualifying for the finals of the closed qualifiers.
It should be noted that although Geek Fam did not use its pause timer to wait for IHC Esports’ players to reconnect, it is not against the tournament rules. There was no obligation on Geek Fam’s part to continue the pause timer.
IHC Esports’ position five support Tugstur "Se" Dashzevge took to Facebook to explain the situation. He said, “The Acer tech team shut our electricity off without notice causing us to lose game 2. Unfortunate really.”
His original, unedited Facebook update also said, “[Geek Fam] lent us their pause in full. But it still wasn't enough for the tech team to fix the electricity in time.”
Since the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai SEA and CN closed qualifiers are hosted online, IHC Esports is also simultaneously participating in the Asia Pacific Predator League 2024 tournament in Manila, Philippines. The tournament is a tier 3 tournament where 10 teams are competing for the lion’s share of the $100,000 prize pool.
It should be noted that Geek Fam is currently playing against ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 champion Azure Ray in a best-of-five (BO5) series and the winner will lock in its slot at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai main tournament.
