The International 6 (TI6) winner and LGD Gaming captain Zhang "y`" Yiping has been one of the most successful players in Dota 2 history, known for his ability to possess an impeccable understanding of game metas and playstyles. During an interview at The International 12 (TI12), y` discussed the learnings he has accumulated during his career. With the decade long career he has had, y` has learned a lot in various domains, but his greatest lesson has been to cherish all the people around him and enjoy their company. Y` is currently competing with LGD Gaming at TI12.

LGD Gaming's captain y` highlights the importance of enjoying company in his Dota 2 career

An interview with y`, who reflected on his career and the “big and small” lessons learned during this period, was played before the phase two group stage series between LGD Gaming and Keyd Stars.

“Thinking back across my entire pro career, if I think it through, I think the lessons I have learned are big and small whether it is being a better person, communicating with others, both in-game and in real life, or building relationships with other people. No matter what it is, my competitive career has spanned close to ten years. I have seen a lot of things”

Even though there has been far too much to remember, y` stressed the importance of enjoying the times spent with players and friends around him.

“If you ask what I have learned, then there is simply too much, because it has been close to half my life already. But if I had to give a single answer, it would be learning to cherish those around me, as well as pro players I used to play with or all friends currently by my side. I think this is the most important to me.”

Y` began his professional Dota 2 career with Speed Gaming.cn in 2014, but he rose to prominence in 2016 after he won the Manila Major with Wings Gaming. The team attracted some eyeballs with this victory, but it took off at TI6 when it won the title with a dominant run and a solid knowledge of the meta.

After coming close to capturing a second TI title in 2021, y` will be trying to achieve the coveted title yet again this time. LGD Gaming is already in the upper bracket of the playoffs and will face 9Pandas on 21st Oct 2023 for a place in the next round.
